Still utterly crazy that he’s going for that much. So overpriced it’s a joke. Brighton are the real winners here.
Assuming the sell on is for profit then that part is pretty meaningless in my opinion Brighton might be seeing more players demand release clauses though. Because Caicedo could easily have been stuck there in a world without Boehly. I don’t honestly think Liverpool would have gone in at that amount if Chelsea weren’t in for him and if Chelsea hadn’t put in a bid for Lavia. But maybe they will have be alright
It’s entertaining but with Caicedo going there as well, I don’t actually think it’s the right move for him as a player (though Poch is the right manager). Still, not our problem I guess.
Absolutely not our problem as you say. They played a back three today but I don’t recall that being Poch’s preferred system. But that was in the absence of a proper defensive midfield. That now changes Perhaps for Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Davis read Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo.
100% could play all of them together IMO. That is an unbelievable midfield. They are a proper striker away from being a very good side again
It's tricky this year, simply because they don't have European competition, so there's less need to rotate the squad. At the same time, Poch manages brave and always has. If Lavia fits better than Enzo, he'll play him over Enzo. And if Lavia/Caicedo/Enzo work together, he'll play them together even if it isn't as flashy as Chelsea fans might want.
Mason Holgate seems like an unlikely signing because of his circa 70k per week wages If FM is to be believed our highest wage will now be either 33 or 36k (60k with either a 40 or 45% drop). Bednarek, Aribo and Stu Armstrong. Notably only one of those is a started and ideally wouldn’t be if we bring in a new central defender Both Holgate and Vyner can apparently play CB and RB (the latter also can apparently cover in DM). And neither is left footed. Someone suggested that RM wants a left footed central defender. It suggests that if the rumours are true that we only want one of these players. The right back cover might also mean Bree is moved on as well On Vyner there is apparently interest from Luton and Rangers. On Twitter the Bristol City fans seem upset at the idea of losing him and also seem to believe there is no way Bristol city will sell to a rival in the same league The right winger link is interesting. Seems clear Sulemana is off one way of another. Hopefully Tella isn’t as well. I think both him and the rumoured guy from the Belgian league can play across the forward line For a new striker it seems like moving Tall Paul on will not be enough to open a slot up. Hopefully we aren’t forced to sell Che to bring in someone like Piroe but we might have to because of the contract situation. He can easily double his wages. Maybe take a slightly reduced fee from palace if they take McCarthy as well! Total Saints Pod discussed how Mara was specifically called out as not training up to standard and maybe he would be moved on in one form or the other and this would open up a new squad spot in attack. Perhaps this is the one being filled by the guy from Genk. Dreamworld would of course be Piroe or AN Other new attacker coming into this slot and retaining Che and just risking him going for free. But this seems unlikely
Chelsea fans put up with and seemed to hero worship Tuchel. A guy who basically played a back 5, 2 central midfielders (at least one of whom was defensive) and then 3 “attackers” - one being Mason Mount who was hardly the most exciting flair attacker. And often no proper striker at all. So a dynamic midfield of their three big money signings should be fine for them. Not least because it will allow the full backs to be unleashed and/or the three attackers to really go for it
I was going to go further with my example with the Jay Rod, Lallana and Lambert analogues - but note they still need their Lambert. So do we mind you
I don't disagree, but when you combine it with Poch's willingness to play kids, you're likely to get discontent that he's leaving various shiny objects out of the lineup. I agree on the substance though: having three midfielders who can both win back and make use of possession suits his style perfectly, it just might feature some agita if the results don't immediately fall into place, and even with a CL title, Tuchel only survived 19 months there.
