Didn't realize that it would be so awkward.....where's a good abacus when you need one.

It takes 5 minutes tops to generate the results after the last ball is kicked.

It's just for that particular table, that the conversion of formulae into numbers and then sorting them has to be done in the right order. All the rest is untouched by human hand. I could probably do it with a data-table or something but that's taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

It's not PC these days to show utter failure with anything so you cannot under any circumstances put anyone lower than the next available number. If everyone had the same score except one that one would have to be second or it's bullying.

    Here goes nothing.

Looking at my forecasts against the rest, the one that stands out is Southampton v Norwich. You (excluding Musty who hasn't submitted yet) have all got to Southampton to win.

They've lost their talismanic midfielder and dead-ball king Ward-Prowse to West Ham this week and defender Livramento to Newcastle. They've previously lost Caleta-Car to Lyon, Salisu to Monaco, Diallo to the Saudi sun and petro-dollars, Romau to Barcelona and meanwhile, Liverpool are chasing midfielder Romeo Lavio. Norwich have been bringing players in, including our old-boy Ashley Barnes, fresh from helping Burnley back to the Premier League.

I have Norwich down to win. I'm probably wrong, but these relegated clubs are in turmoil. We shall see.

    Goal time: 30 mins.

As noted: Musty to come. Kick off is at 12:30 on Saturday.

Here we are then: no unanimous verdicts but there are four "6"s: Coventry, Cardiff, Blackburn and Southampton, and one seven, Leicester. Two of the three relegated Premier League teams then, but not Leeds. I don't doubt they'll be towards the top by the end of the season but perhaps not so soon after a cataclysmic event.

Cardiff get three jokers and Leicester two. I've gone even further into the wilderness with a joker on Norwich to beat Southampton.

Good luck to you all, but not too much.

I think we need Lyndhurst to take a drug test. He's been signing players who make you go "Ooooh" and at the same time he's galvanised his forecasting. To be fair, he didn't have a lot of competition this week but, as they say, you can only beat what's in front of you.

    upload_2023-8-12_23-26-35.png

No, there is no goal time score as there weren't any goals. The referee's decision is final and that's me.

The next sequence kicks off at 8pm on Friday and Star Match will be the relegation battle between Middlesborough and Huddersfield Town. Please try not to get over excited.
