I felt he was really brave, didn't shy away at all despite getting poleaxed at one point. He quickly realised it was difficult to go by the Sheff W RB who was quick and very strong(actually really a CB I believe) and then as soon as he came up against someone else out wide he took him on and we got a pen. Something else I noticed is his movement, in fact, if you watch the 3rd goal and focus solely on him, it's pretty likely that goal wouldn't have came.
Must admit I expected he would have been quicker than their RB, but that’s was purely based on looks tbh. Certainly never shied away from the ball, in fact he was constantly looking for it.
I wasn't believing anything or banging any drum. I was asking a very simple genuine question and hoping for a straight answer. Wish I'd never bothered; should have known better.
I can see Twine playing on the left of a 3, which will probably mean Vaughan will be used sparingly, which at his young age is maybe not a bad thing. Lokilo and Allahyar will be the 2 on the right, though Longman, if he doesn't go out can play either aside, so an added back-up if needed.
Ah well, all a matter of opinions I guess and we obviously both think there's something about him. I thought for a first game he was pretty mature going forward - i.e judged when to take on his man and when to come back and recycle, switch play. I guess he was caught napping by the quick free quick for their goal, but then so were most of the team.
I dont get the excitement that the managment team exude when they talk about Twine-ableit without naming him. Seems he was not an automatic starter for Burnley. (do realize he was out with injury for quite some time). Given that fail to see how he will displace Tufan or Traore or for that matter Vaughan.,
He’d definitely displace Vaughan. Vaughan’s a talented player but I agree with others that he’s not ready to be a starter every week in the Championship.
I’m thinking the same, he came from MK Dons to Burnley, not Real Madrid, so I have no idea how good he is/can be, but I’m not expecting him to be the next Ronaldo. Is Twine a loan or permanent?
People keep saying this but he’s not actually stood out for us in a competitive game yet. I think it’s his age people are excited by more so than what he’s done on the pitch for us. He’s had moments but you’ve never come away hearing the opposition say “That Vaughan took us apart today”.
People are excited by his potential, and he certainly hasn't looked out of place in the majority of minutes he's played. I get the feeling they want a core squad of a couple of relatively evenly matched senior players for each position and then with the likes of Vaughan, Covil, Sandat and the young lad from Fenernache getting their opportunity when covering absences.
I guess in the position he plays, all you need is a few ‘moments’ that can turn a game, but you’re right, he needs to develop his all round game, so he isn’t bullied etc.
I think HT2's comment about not taking on his marker is correct but I think he did pretty well otherwise - I suspect that it's partly a confidence thing and (touch wood) hell soon be flying down the wing leaving defenders on their backsides.
He definitely needs to develop physically as he was completely out his depth against Norwich. Yard off the pace mentally and a yard physically
