Thank you GA - Apart from the bus breaking down at Trimdon and the result I had a great day out with 2 of my sons and 1 of my grandchildren That is the main thing and I still have hope and confidence that it will soon turn around. Bring on Rotherham next week
Agree with that, particularly as he isn't getting the sort of support from Hume in an attacking sense. On the other side Cirkin was supporting loads with his overlapping but Clarke doesn't seem up for it at the moment. Lost count of the number of times we got to the byline and couldn't find one of our players.
He looked sick as f... at the end of the game as he, almost apologetically, clapped the fans in front of us. Felt sorry for him to be fair.
Said this last week, Roberts was isolated all game. Missing Diallo coming over to play the little 1-2s and play in the pockets, he’s getting the ball and has 2-3 players on him with no Sunderland players within passing distance
You're just the kind of fella I like going to games with, no different in real life to what you are on here. I think you'd agree that the daft blind faith and enthusiasm, away from home, is contagious. Yes we all know there are issues to address and problems to solve but we're not glibly attacking the owner, the manager and certainly not each other. We're all well aware of the striker issues we've had but I, for one, believe Mowbray when he says we're fighting to get more attackers in. We've just signed two, have one injured and I fully believe we'll soon have at least one signing and perhaps even another on loan. The club/team/manager were magnificent last season and the support was rightly praised for our effort and enthusiasm ... ... it would be a shame if we're now seen as moaning and fickle after two narrow, and unjust imo, defeats.
You only posted this on Friday when I merely suggested that Hemir is a talented kid, but not ready for 1st team action...Now you're saying our defence and attack are "toothless". What happened to give it 10 games ? Make your mind up. "FFS, give the lad some games before giving an opinion, if he is poor after say 10 games, then i might question him, but atm no"
True i said 10 games for lad.... and I will stick to that for the individual as such. But in the meantime, until hopefully he comes up to speed...our front 3 only have two, Roberts (best player on the pitch yesterday) and Clarke who look dangerous.
Agreed Smug, they were unjust defeats in the way that we should have come away with a minimum of two draws in the league games so far. We haven’t been quite sharp enough up front, not shot enough or made the most of dangerous situations. Credit to Preston as they were well-drilled and difficult to get through. The biggest shock for me is the soft underbelly that we didn’t have last season - far too easy to break against and give away soft chances. That really needs sorting.
Won't get sorted as we don't have a proper defender next to Ballard. Hume is playing a strange role and leaves us exposed as he doesn't have the pace to recover back into a defensive position. Cirkin manages it but looks absolutely paggered at the end of each game due to the graft it takes. Need to change personal or the system.
Aye me as well, that’s why I watched all last seasons goals at six o clock this morning. Up to two years ago I had forgotten the result 5 seconds after the match had finished.
Woke up with a positive thought about yesterday's game. Patto did really well dealing with their corners, punched well under a fair bit of pressure.
I must admit Hume's positioning does confuse me at times. I have tried to reflect on yesterday. After driving through that torrential rain should have guessed the outcome. Positives for me were we are still creating opportunities and really in all honesty Roberts,Ba or 09 should have equalised. First goal was a fluke but we are falling foul to that type of goal. The second was a typical shoot ourselves in the foot goal but it did expose the lack of pace in midfield. I would love to know why we always start the second half on the back foot. We never come out firing and this allowed a fairly ordinary Preston to dictate the play up to the second goal. Like Ipswich game we gave it a go last 20 but at times alot of huff and puff. Two observations - as defenders double up on Roberts and Clark we must start looking to use the spare man that must be there. Hemir is a raw young kid but at times yesterday made runs off the ball but no-one tried to spot these. I am trying to remain positive but yesterday was disappointing. At least the rain wasn't quite as heavy on the way back.
My worry is, continue to play the kid in a team which potential could start to suffer from a lack of confidence will be detrimental to his development. Its clear as day to anyone who has watched football for any length of time, he is simply not ready as starter in the team...maybe 10/20 mins coming on a substitute..but the full 90 mins...never and I think Mowbray has the same thought process. The kid has obvious talent, just hope we ruin that for him.
