tbh I’m getting a bit pissed of with TM won’t be a popular choice but I’d not batter an eyelid if he was replaced.

    Definitely need a striker (obviously)
But starting to wonder if we actually need a creative midfielder Jobe and Neil were ok but created little went sideways more often than not. Need a forward who drags the defence around and someone to play that killer pass
Just a bit frustrated tonight can’t put my finger on what’s not clicking

No different to the blip we had around the Stoke game last year and we bounced back pretty well from that, no one wants to start **** and I’m as annoyed about it as anyone but there’s 44 games to go and time to strengthen if we don’t make play offs or whatever so be it, we’re in the very early stages of a potentially brilliant project let’s hope in 4/5 years we look back at this period and wonder what we were worrying about, Rome wasn’t built in a day, few bodies in and 3 points Saturday could change the whole landscape let’s Atleast try and be positive we’ve a young team getting on their backs won’t do anyone any favours

I'm intruiged to know the truth about the Batth situation. The initial reports were that he'd been informed there was no new contract and we wouldn't stand in his way if he could secure a better deal elsewhere. Then we are told by "sources" that he wants a move due to "family issues" and that he's turned down a contract.
So, what is it? We want rid (wages) or we want rid (transfer fee because he won't sig n a new deal). What's the deal?

For what it's worth, he looked woeful against Crewe. Not sure he won a header all game

Well, It is really. As supporters (and customers) of the club we should be allowed to understand what's going on when our POTS isn't even close to getting in the team

Wouldn’t be against a back 3 if we insist on playing luke, stick Batth inbetween him and Ballard, I’d back us to score so if those 3 can keep a clean sheet we can get 3 points on the weekend

In our minds it's quite reasonable, the reality is totally different ...

... no club has ever given a running commentary on players, contracts, wages, peronal issues and the esteem in which they hold the club.

    Nice idea though.

It's usually a good idea when you're leaking goals and you've got the players for it, which we do. We need to form a phalanx and grind some results out.

I'd love to see Batth playing again, dunno what's going on there but I'm certain he's not the kind of player to let off the pitch stuff affect him.

The midfield clearly can’t offer the protection we need so I don’t see any other option until we get someone in, I’d rather we play open expansive football but ultimately we need the points on the board and quick

I hear what you are saying, but these stories are coming from somewhere. It'd be nice to get some clarity - we have benched our best defender and have conceded 4 weak as piss goals in 2 games. I think the request for clarity is fair

Or drop 09 in front of the centre backs to stem the breaks
Edit : as a stop gap

Wouldn’t be against him at the base of a 3 but we’d have to sacrifice the 10 to do it

    From here most likely <laugh>

Seriously, the club are handling our negotiations very well.

Perhaps Batth, Pritchard and Gooch are going, for sure, but we're pretending they aren't to get £3 million for them ...

... if that money helps bring in Cannon isn't that worth a little secrecy.

Thought I’d have a few more beers before I open the board back up to see if there’s still mickey mellon when everyone’s had a drink :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Just my opinion but I’m not for a traditional back 3 with wing backs at all. It’s **** negative football derived from the Italians. It’s trying not to lose the game rather than going out to win. We already have a battle trying to choose which midfielders to fit into the Xl why on earth would we then go and remove one of them for a centre back? We’d be playing 2 CM’s and have about 4 on the bench.

For whatever reason, TM has switched Ekwah to the role that Neil had last season and vice versa. Ekwah does not provide enough protection for the back line. As well as that, Neil couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, so playing him in such an advanced role is futile, especially when Ekwah looks more dangerous with shots from distance. We either switch them back, or bring a new CDM in, and use Ekwah/Jobe as the second, more advanced central midfielder.

We all know that we need strikers, so that point isn't up for debate.

On the run of play, we have lost 2 games we have largely dominated. We've given away silly goals (with a degree of misfortune too) and not been clinical enough, despite creating clear cut chances.

This will change. Offensively we look threatening, but lack a clinical finish. Defensively, we need an adequate replacement for Baath. Hopefully, Seelt will be the one. There's loads of time to get things right with the formation and the recruitment team need to do what they have in recent years, by bringing in quality late in the window.

It hurts to lose back to back games, but all is far from lost.

I’d say that Ekwah and Neil at side by side but it feels like it’s not working either way. Have to be honest my faith in these is being tested by this striker situation. At one point if somebody left I was just thinking we’ll get another. We seem to be struggling to fill crucial positions and sign people at the right standard so now I want us to hang on to people. All I can see is young player - develop - profit , not let’s get promoted.

Team selections have been baffling at best.

Players in opposite roles like Ekwah/Neil, O’Nien CB, no striker (yeah limited options but don’t destroy the kids confidence by going without)

My biggest concern is this, and for all we like Mogga plenty of times last season we questioned selections and substitutes.

I’m still not worried thing we have played ‘ok’, not worried but slightly concerned.
