Yeah you probably should have, just like we could have all avoided this Caicedo madness if we had just met Brightons valuation a month ago instead of lowballing them.
They came out and said it was £100m minimum a month ago, and all thats happened is we have ended up having to pay another £10m probably because we stalled.

With you guys you might lose Lavia altogether, but I guess it easy for us all to be flippant with tens of millions when its not our money :)

I don't really understand the shenanigans over the Lavia approach, but we don't have all the info.
I'm a firm believer that there is almost always a reason for things and often we don't know what it is.
LFC has shown in recent years that we're not complete mugs in the transfer game, so I think there must be some valid reason for all the messing about.
As for you and Caicedo, well - Boehly's deranged so nothing surprises me there. :)

Exactly. I think Liverpool valued Lavia more around £35m tbh but we're already willing to over pay because we need a DM. If that's the case, then £50m is £15m over, not just £5m.

As you say, we don't know

If Brighton accept an inferior deal (which add ons amount to) then they are in breach of verbal contract by accepting our offer.

It's as simple as that, just drag this out til Monday with a 111 plus 20 mil if he is a league an cl winner making it 131 mil and wait for Chelsea to try.

The funny thing is; they know they can't actually afford this long term but don't seem to care. They'll be out buying 4 more 20 year old on 8 year deals by Windows end as well.

I'm fairly sure 90% of these players will have poor careers but won't care one jot.

this is exactly how I see it. I cannot fault the club for not paying way over the odds. While I think that our record bid for Moises is retaliatory for Chelsea derailing our Lavia discussions, we still made that bid.

am I unhappy that we have not signed more, yes, of course….but the window has some way to go yet so I will reserve my judgement until it is.

BTW, this is "our money" it will end up as subs, season ticket prices etc so if you are an illegal streamer and give 0 to clubs you don't care but the ordinary fans pay for all of this

If Caicedo has said he only wants to move to Chelsea then dragging it out like you've suggested WOULD be embarrassing. Just move on.

What are the consequences of breaking our contract with them? As I understand we're all signed with Brighton. It's the player who won't sign.

Yeah, I can't see any point in filibustering to try and prevent Chelsea getting their man - provided he has made his decision plain, and it's not just the agent arsing about again.

Personally I think we should have joint custody. We have him Saturday through Monday. Chelsea have him Tuesday through Thursday. On Fridays he can visit his grandparents.

it's obviously a **** you to us again setting us a higher price to get him in return for having to got to 115 for the rat midget.

as I said if lavia is stupid enough not to see he is nothing to them then that'll do for me.

lfc have now absolute screwed themselves over as there's literally very few options left

Well in that case the deal has fallen through hasn't it?
The agreement has to be dependent on the player himself agreeing to it. He's a contracted employee, not a chattel.

Me too. And as I've said before. Don't want Lavia. Not if he's our only CDM (if we had two I'd take him though). So, I'm not really annoyed about missing out on Lavia... and until recently Moises wasn't even an option... So not too peeved about that either.

Situation no different to how the week began for me.
