If the FA have found evidence of racism why are the police not involved now? Surely they would be duty bound to report evidence of a criminal act to the police no? Maybe they will, or the police will decide to investigate but strange that the two things haven't happened simultaneously what with todays announcement. Hmmmmm

Erm, because there's no law against using racist language in the UK as long as you are not promoting violence...

Also the jurisdiction of the police over what happens on the football field is relatively sketchy. The players are assumed to have given their consent to be governed by the rules of the FA whilst they are on the pitch, for incidents that are covered by those laws. It's why Rooney, Gerrard and Rio weren't charged with assault for their respective elbows.

 

Swarbs, as I've said before, we all wish that this thing will go away. However, it doesn't appear that it will.

In the last 10 minutes I have listened to Henry Winter on Radio 5 say that after having talked to people at both clubs he can well see this issue being faught out in the courts between the 2 clubs. That again is something that none of us fans wish to see happen.

IF the charge holds and he is found guilty I hope he never plays for our club again.

How can you say that? Remember an FA Tribunal is NOT a court of law.

 

Is'nt the police involvement in the JT case down to a complaint from a member of the public?

 

If he is found guilty he will have been found guilty of racially abusing another player by calling him a ****** and most right minded football supporters would accept that this is crossing the line. That's how.


Like Sky said though, it remains an if.

 

Because I reckon after a full hearing or wherever this may end up the truth will prevail. We probably wont have any final outcome for months - but when we do if the outcome offers conclusive evidence that he is guilty he should never play for our club again.

All I'm saying is if a charge holds then I personally don't want him at the club. If it doesn't (which I still suspect will happen) then all's fine and dandy

 

Yeah but it's not the only way to get investigated by the police surely? I'm just saying being on a football pitch doesn't exclude you from criminal investigation....anyway i was going to write that bit in my other post but was being lazy and now you've made me write it anyway....dick

 

The thing is...I think Evra is now in too deep. He'll look a nob if he backs out now. Therefore he's going to need a water tight case. Has he got one? Who knows?

At this stage it's Suarez's word against his. That's all there is to go on. According to the BBC Suarez says even the manyoo players were amazed at Evra's reaction. I still say it's because Suarez showed him up on the day.

There were witnesses in Terry's case. What's Evra got to go on? Ferguson poking him in the back and going, say something. Ferguson only has his word for it.

Perhaps if Suarez is guilty he shouldn't play for us again, but it annoys me that the accusations have come from a man who has a problem to start with, and to a player who's been our best bet for years. If we lose him well ****in' hell, that's what everyone will be saying. Liverpool are backing Suarez, that's good enough for me.

Whatever happens, Evra won't be thanked for it.

But we all know how powerful United,Gill,Ferguson are with Media and FA.

That's an overexaggeration IMO, even if he was found guilty I wouldn't be as big a fan of him but I still wouldn't mind him playing for us. I'm not picking out this as an example because he played for Man Utd, its just a convenient example, Roy Keane deliberately injured Haaland and basically ended his career, and he was still Man Utd's captain for ages after. As sickening as it is, if we want to be a club that wins stuff then we can't afford to be picky.
