There's some right cack on Twitter right now. The bottom line is he and/or his agent are just waiting for Chelsea to jiggle their finances around. In fact, they're probably trying to work an angle to get Liverpool to drop out so that their £100m bud is accepted, or foist several players onto Brighton that they don't want (or quickly offload one or two to the Saudis over the weekend). There will be an FFP hit on all this somewhere down the line, along with the one they're facing already, but Boehly's just focused on winning this window for now and will make the necessary adjustments as and when (if?) they need to be addressed. They seem to have all angles covered - for now.
they have all the time in the world here. they sign lavia and laugh at us missing out then they throw him on the trash cos they don't really want him then wait til the last day and give Brighton a take it or leave it offer. they will be absolutely laughing at us sat on our hands with no player and our entire season trashed cos we just won't get real.
As I say, we can still buy who we want regardless of the Brighton situation, providing FSG underwrite the loans and adjustments are made in future windows. But you're right about Lavia unless we want to look stupid again before he does his medical (today?( and match Chelsea's £55m bid, after saying he was only worth £45m - which is true. But ffs, Caecedo is worth nothing like £111m, so **** knows.
My only worry in all this mess is, Chelsea buying Lavia in the next few days, delay making a bid for Caicedo until the last week/day and we miss out on both like moron's while Caicedo stalls for Chelsea, and have no time to sign anyone else Although I'm not sure how Chelsea would be allowed to spend another £165m, without shifting Lukaku, Hudson-Odoi and Zeyich for more money than they're worth
LFC to club A: "We'll offer you £50m for player X" Club A: "Done" LFC to Brighton: "Offer for Caicedo is withdrawn" Where's the problem - or are we just looking for more reasons to be unhappy?
I think this is an agent vs player situation Caicedo probably doesn't mind if its Chelsea or Liverpool. He just wants to move up from Brighton The agent wants Chelsea cause he'll get a bigger pay day.
you can do that for sure. but in the end we have to withdraw the offer to Brighton. so the question is really what does klopp want here.
Chelsea haven't bid £100m. Their last bid was around £85m. I noticed that you've said a couple of times about Klopp looking bereft yesterday. When was this? When he gave the pre match interview he said that Brighton had accepted our offer. I don't recall anyone rushing in midway telling him it was off and I haven't seen any other images of him since. Unless I missed something, when did you see him looking bereft?
The fact we haven't pulled out, despite the "announcement" about preferring Chelsea, suggests there's alot of BS flying around. If Caicedo really didn't want to sign for us and only wanted Chelsea, then I can't see us staying in for him.
So we put in a bid that breaks the British transfer record, it's accepted, medical booked and the agent gets a call from Chelsea offering him a huge payment to get his client to stall and we're a joke club. The offer's still on the table forcing Chelsea to match or better it because withdrawing it means Chelsea get the deal done for their offer of £85m. I'd say we've done everything right so far. I'm not bothered whether we get him or not. We will move on and get whoever Klopp wants and that's okay with me.
Premier League should investigate and if the agent has scuppered the deal because Chelsea offered him a bung when the clubs had agreed, should be massive point deduction
I think caicedo should rock up at half time tomorrow and do a big gender reveal like thing with either red or blue to say he is going to.
If that's the case, that sort of stuff should be illegal. An agent is there to represent his client, not line his own pockets. In fact, new rules should be introduced that agents are not allowed to talk to clubs unless there is a bid. Not a fan of agreements and contracts being discussed whilst a player belongs to someone else and there isn't an accepted bid by the owning club.
