Yes he was on my list of “will be gone by end of the window” but a lack of rumours about him got my hopes up. If we can shift Lyanco we will need 2 centre backs, unless they think Awe can cover as 4th choice
I agree. That challenge would be signing someone who would sign on as 4th choice. I expect we’d have to look for someone who could play elsewhere such as fb or DM. Because I don’t think many would take that slot Or rely on Charles and Awe as 4th/5th choice. Which might be more likely
We have Charles and Awe as 4th choice. We only need one good defender - preferably one for the first team.
they made a bit of point when Awe signed that he had a pathway to the first team. Im just sick and tired of watching Bednarek, so if we could sell him and get two new Centre backs who don’t panic when they’re near a football that would be amazing
Yeah I think we should be looking at signing a first team centre back, 46 games is a lot of games and whilst I usually wouldn’t advocate rotating centre backs to often, Bednarek and Stephens are both so meh that I’m not overly fussed. You’d have to be pretty unlucky with injuries to be having to rely on your 4th choice centre back too often so imagine we’ll be fine with Awe/Charles
I'd love ABK to stay - and my guess was that we might hold onto him until January (partly because he's had no pre-season). But if we are to sell, please do it asap. We would desperately need a new CB, and I don't want us missing out on someone in the meantime or scrambling around on August 31st.
I thought Stephens played mostly at LCB with us? I get there would be times he switched in some line ups, but thought he mostly was.
Presumably Bednarek would look to leave if we sign a CB to take his starting place. I think Lyanco will end up staying.
Palace will open with a bid for Che of £10m, and apparently still keen on Macca according to Twitter land. Palace would seriously need to up their bid if the rumour is true we turned down a £13m bid from Bournemouth.
