The way we were conceding goals in "friendlies" should have been a warning, so Mowbray has to solve that problem somehow. The striker situation is unfortunately out of his hands and without a cutting edge you will never win games. Got to get a centre forward asap. Not someone with potential. We need the finished article.

The wider point is that we are only 2 games in and we could have won both games with a No.9 on the pitch. 2 games in is not the time to panic. I believe we lost our first 5 games before Roy Keane came in.....

This is how I saw it too. First goal was a lucky deflection and the second goal came from an deflection out of Dan Ballard's feet, straight into the path of their advancing player.

IMO, the decision making was way off from several of our players. Holding onto the ball too long, instead of playing the quick pass, shooting when other team mates were in better positions and multiple short corners that came to nothing.

Lots of work to be done on the training pitch before the next match.

Glad I went to see the local non-league today. I'm not fully committing to judge the transfers until the window ends, other than to say I do think the players we've signed thus far will come good, eventually.

Bad start though, innit! If you've got the framework of a team who can make do then yeah, by all means, get maximum value out of the market by waiting until you can get the best deal/loan towards the end of the window. Seems like a massive luxury/risk in our situation. I dont care what has happened in previous seasons in terms of recovering from a bad start...you should never be going into the second game of a season without a single recognised striker you can trust to lead the line.

    We'll see; fingers crossed.

    Think it was 4 losses.

Loads of time yet. It's a marathon not a sprint and clubs around us are losing their best players

Player for player our lot are as good as, if not better, than all the rest in the Championship but we are not playing effectively.

When Preston Nob End got the ball they quickly attacked down the wings and usually got some crosses or dangerous passes in.
We usually get the ball and keep passing it sideways in the middle until the opposition get all their players in place.
Our wingers might be better footballers but I reckon they got fewer crosses in than the PNE (and Ipswich) wingers.

    Our corners looked ineffective.
Their corners created panic every time.

It’s ok saying it’s only 2 games in and we have plenty of time yet but just think towards the end of the season how important 6 points will be either for a promotion or relegation fight. We could have won both games but we don’t seem to have started properly yet and we have had a bit of bad luck.

It’s also ok saying we still have (almost) 3 weeks left to get some strikers (and other positions) in but last week we were saying we still have 4 weeks. Soon we will have 2 weeks and just like previous windows we may well miss out. The time goes by very quickly, what if we still haven’t signed a striker by next week. Many were expecting someone in before todays game, will it be the same for the Rotherham game?

Let’s hope the management get something done sooner rather than waiting for Premiership clubs to complete their own deals to see what might be available in the last few days.

But they came from very sloppy midfield play, surely you can see that?

Sorry but our passing was not up to scratch throughout the side , the biggest sin particularly for midfielders is to give the ball away . I couldn’t tell you how many times that slow reactions again cost us possession we need to buck up our ideas in all departments we just seem so laboured .

I wasn’t moaning about the goals we didn’t score mate just the goals we conceded they can’t be helped they were very unlucky imo.

We can’t be perfect for 90 mins we also won’t concede unlucky deflections every wk! If you want to moan and cry about a pass a few minutes before a deflection well there’s **** all I can do about that it’s your choice.

A few minutes? Both of them were probably 10/15 seconds before the ball hit the net. No goal is unlucky, they always stem from a problem somewhere.

It doesn’t matter if its a 40 yard screamer or it goes in of someones arse, it counts the same. If they meant it or not it really doesn’t matter. Both goals don’t happen if Jobe and Neil aren’t sloppy. End of story. ‘Have a word’

Ohhh wow so 40 yard screamers are the same as a miss hit bouncing off someone’s arse? Wow that’s me told
