It wont be a blip we are garbage and should be in L1 but for Readings deduction. On today we are both likely to drop.
I’m not a big fan of the new added time rule it’s seems like players not getting punished especially begovic , not even a booking the extra time can be added all it wants but experience players like their goalie know how to work the system
Deserved win SB. Unfortunately for us, the blip has been going on for over two seasons now. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your season.
After the first 20 mins Bulut should have made the subs he made and finished with. The crumbs of comfort was Collins and Robinson who should start against Leicester. As far as Ugbo is concerned 2 goals in 2 games is not good enough if we keep needing 3 to win.
I posted half time it was a terrible game. I watched identical games about a dozen times last season. Exactly the same lacklustre performance for an hour before waking up when it was too late. Bowler and Grant on the flanks were very poor and came narrow far too much - no width at all. A breath of fresh air when Tanner and Robinson came on but they'd got their 2 goal advantage by then and sat on it. Lot to learn about the squad and maybe Bulut after that lot today. The CCS has become a bit of a millstone for some reason - we play far better away.
I just cant see this set up finishing anywhere other than comfortably in the bottom 3. Ill say it early. Weve fecked up with the manager choice and should have brought Nathan Jones home. He would have brought in the players we needed and an aggressive style to see us safe until the embargo ends. The likes of Goutas and Grant already look poor.
Grant’s an odd one. Seems like he’s been around forever but still young. Was brilliant for Huddersfield but he wouldn’t be the first player to go stale at West Brom. I see him as a striker rather than wide player where he seemed to play more for them.
I read that Bulut said his players were nervous. They had a decent home expectant crowd buoyed by a decent point at Leeds and the homecoming of Ramsey but looked clueless. Nervous? They should have been busting a gut to storm into a team on the back of a 4-0 defeat! The worst result for us last week was QPR losing 4-0. They had nothing to lose by going for the win and played us off the park first half when we were dismal. QPR had 2 players we could do with. Chair & Armstrong. Abbadanato is suggesting we’re looking at a game changing midfielder. No hint who though? The subs all looked good today but whether they’ll get the start they deserve is uncertain, but being picked to play at Leicester is a bit of a poisoned chalice. In any event I’m not looking at the tables etc until at least 10 games. The windows open and Bulut hasn’t yet got his most effective starting eleven.
Chair always seems to do well against us. A proper no. 10 with ability, energy and drive. Wish we had someone like him.
Well that was awful yesterday. The first thing Bulut needs to do on Monday morning is introduce his players to each other. O’Dowda is a skilful player, but not at left back. He needs to move up at the expense of Grant who hasn’t hit form yet. The midfield is static. So boring to watch. Maybe Tanner needs to start the next match as our wing play was non existent yesterday. I could go in but based on that performance we are going to struggle again this season. Hopefully there’s a couple of players still to come in but the manager and the coaching staff need to step up and offer us a more acceptable attacking style of football if we are to have any success this season.
Been thinking much the same Irish. Just watched the 20 minute "highlights" of the game on the City site and apart from the 2 goals conceded, we didn't look too bad. It's the other 80 minutes that weren't shown that worry me. Having sat through the 100+ minutes, those vid highlights are grossly misleading. We didn't have a clue how to control the play in the "non vital" parts the game. Apart from McGuinness, none of the starters came out of that with any credit. Adams tried hard and Wintle is a grafter but apart from a few flashes, Ramsey was inneffective. Grant and Bowler were very frustrating. They sat far too deep and narrow - their fullbacks had a field day. Seems like Ugbo wants it on a plate and he got again yesterday, but apart from that did nothing to intimidate the QPR back line. On the touchline, the lack of action was as poor as on the pitch. Substitutions to rectify the obvious problems were made far too late. Robbo and Tanner made a huge difference but by they were 2 goals to the good and they sat on it. The Leicester game next up looks frightening and Bulut needs to find his "heads above the parapet" troops. The current CB's appear to be our only viable options but I'd stick Collins in at LWB **** or bust and move O'Dowda forward in place of Grant. Tanner deserves a pop at it wide on the other side with Bowler an option off the bench. As for someone up top to shake up and challenge the Leicester CB's? Is Kieffer on board yet because Ugbo will need another plate service.
Think you guys will be ok once Ralls is back. Our midfield is weak as piss but that was where we won the first hour or so IMO. Also as limited as we are you caught us on a good day. Ainsworth following the clusterfuck at Watford added Cook who I thought was great considering he can’t be match fit and Armstrong who is raw but at least gives us an outlet. Still though I thought we were the better team overall but you’d have probably gone on to win had either of the shots against the bar gone in.
