After a good result at the stadium of light, we now entertain Stoke City, who are coming off of a good result against Rotherham, head says a hard fought draw, heart says 3-1. I'm going with my heart, Broady, Chappers and Hirst
Our hearts are often remarkably reliably accurate! Another entertaining hard fought game, a rocking PR, a new fresh pitch to play our game, and come out 2-1 winners. Only 10 mins added on, ffs!
I've got a slightly uneasy feeling about this one. Although we've had a strong recent record of winning big games (away wins against the likes of Sunderland, Barnsley, and Peterborough), this new-look, young Stoke side look like they can pose us plenty of problems. I'm going for an entertaining 2-2 draw.
I don’t feel uneasy about playing against decent sides. It’s what we want. They’ll be even better when we get to the top flight! As McKenna would say, it’s all about our own performance level and we got away with it a bit against Sunderland so we need to see an improvement tomorrow in our tempo and our passing accuracy and see where that takes us.
Unfortunately I think Stoke will be too strong for us, and we'll br brought back down to earth. 1'-3 defeat with Hladky having a stinker
If it wasn’t for Alex Neil being in their dugout I’d be more confident. Something about ex Naarwich players/managers from that era.. I’ll plump for another 2-1 win with a nervy finish
Alex Neil is forced into making a sub after 30 minutes for tactical reasons to try and get in the game because Stoke can't handle us right now.
1-0 at half time and a thoroughly enjoyable first 45 minutes. We started quickly and put immediate pressure on Stoke's goal, getting quite a few shots off in the first ten minutes. Woolfenden scored a great header from a free kick that was floated in from the right and Alex Neil decided he had to make a substitute to try and get to grips with how we were playing. It was a good move from him because after the sub, Stoke started to get some passes together and some attacking play of their own. Hladky was forced into a couple of decent saves but in general, the play has been mostly in Town's favour. The four camera feed from Town TV has made the match a much more professional experience to watch. I'm looking forward to the second half.
Second yellow card in two games for Hladky for taking too long on goal kicks. Not sure it was warranted this time though, to be honest.
