Europa hopes slimmer

    Disapointing FA Cup results and draw this weekend. With Ch£lski going out and Man U playing Likely Arsenal in the next round it only leaves two potential CL qualifiers left for the Semis.

    Man City have to negotiate Villa then Everton or Reading.
    And there will be one left after Arsenal Man U (unless Leyton Orient beat them both!)

    We need a CL team to win the FA Cup and Arsenal to beat Birmingham in the League Cup Final next week. This would allow two extra spaces going to highest league finishes in the premiership.

    Still think FA cup will be won by a CL side, most likely Manure. We still need to beat Bolton this weekend, we do that then I'd say we have a half decent chance.

    1 to start with but if Arsenal beat Brum and qualify for CL it becomes 2. If a CL team win FA cup as then it's 3 from the Prem (5th, 6th & 7th) plus a possibility of another in Fair Play league.

    6th Spot is hardly out of our reach, Liverfool are only 4 points ahead of us and not looking to convincing so who knows.

    TBH I'd be happy just to finish above the mackems now and miss out on Europe, before you say that is a lack of ambition it would cap off a good return to the EPL but lets be honest I think we'd struggle in Europe which could cost us in the league next season.

    What does the winner of the Europa League get? Entry to the following season's competition on entry into the CL qualification rounds?

    I agree partly with what you're saying but I think getting a Europa spot next year will ensure the likes of Joey & Enrique sign new contracts (well Enrique) but also IF the Pie man gives Pardew at least £35Mill we stand more chance of attracting a higher quality of player. Though as you say, it may stretch the squad to be playing in 4 competions.

    The final of the FA Cup has to be contested by two teams already in Europe if it is say Man Utd vs Stoke, then no matter what the score is Stoke would get into Europe.

    Yeah that's right. There FA Cup Runner-Up also need to have qualified for Europe in the league if another space is to open up. Otherwise it will go to them.

    Didn't apply last year because Portsmouth were in the final and due to their administration they weren't allowed in the competition, so the rule will be as it used to be this year.

    Yep, pretty much. Or an Arsenal v Man City final, but I can't see Arsenal winning at Old Trafford if they beat Orient. Let's hope Man City can qualify for the Champions League!
