If we're not getting Caicedo I wish this whole thing would hurry up so we don't have such a huge sum of money basically tied down to a non entity.

We can't bid on anyone else while we may be obligated with this one long-shot.

The longer this drags on, the less like we are to get someone else.

Good thread from Mel Reddy, basically putting Romano and Diego in the mud.

Also goes onto mention that whilst Chelsea is his preferred destination, LFC have had assurances he wants to join.

we can mate. We have oodles of money (or credit) still to play with. Last night I agreed with walking away, but the more stuff comes out, the more it makes sense to screw Chelsea back by staying in there.

Interesting thread on that point. looks like there will be a firesale at some point, though as MITO alludes to they may offload to friends in the arab league at inflated prices to get around it. As it says in the thread, they're already awaiting punishment and may be thinking that they may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. Pack the squad with 8-9-year contracts now in anticipation of a lenghtly transfer ban. That and you have to factor in that Boehy has taken this completely personally, which may be thrilling for Chelsea fans and neutral onlookers, but can be used to our advantage if we're cute until the end of the window.

In other news though, evidently Lavia is in London today for his medical. And that is the utter tragedy of this episode, not Caecedo.

that makes no sense due to accounting periods .

Obviously, I'm not expecting MC now, but if we do sign him, what's the odds he releases some statement about how much he loves Liverpool and this is all some misunderstanding and he always wanted to come here. He might even become a boyhood red overnight... <laugh>

He wants his kids to grow up with a Scouse accent, and he's always loved the Beatles. And Atomic Kitten. :bandit:

Yes we can

And we could still bid for others if we didn't, we're not committed to buying Caicedo

we've committed it to Brighton until such time as they accept same from "someone" else.

both sides need to agree offer is withdrawn.

No we haven't. We've made a bid and if the deal materialises, we spend it. However, until the dotted lines are signed, we can do as we like with the funds.

Much like Chelsea pulling out the Tyler Adams deal despite having a bid accepted.

yes they had gone and told Leeds the offer was withdrawn and have made their name mud in doing so.

they didn't simply tell him to go home.

we have to tell Brighton the deal is off before splashing half that 111mil about.

Even if true, that bit won't exactly be hard to do considering he supposedly wants to 'only join Chelsea'

No, we absolutely don't. We're well, well under our FFP limits and quite possibly have another £300m to chuck, We won't, because of our self-imposed credit limits, but that's beside the point.

that's a separate point. we are talking only about splashing the 111mil we now know ow we have access to.

yes you are right if fsg wanted to float another 289mil from nowhere it could be spent
