As I said yesterday when this news first broke, it raises more questions and provides no answers.
Taking out the two men who were running the business would save a reasonable sum of money, but if Bas thought that their jobs were so easy that he could fill the void, then he showed poor judgement.

It does seem to me that there is a possibility that he has been pushed into the background rather, but does he realise it? He certainly doesn't give the impression of being terribly bright judging by the horrible gaffs he has made so far.

I am not at all sure that a system such as this can operate, unless ST has been given a free hand to make and take decisions along with this committee, but on balance, just, I think it better than having someone who is out of touch with reality taking whimsical and random actions.

If Timperley really is the man in charge under this system , as chair of the "executive committee" , then he has moved from being a part-time non-exec to effectively being the CEO--a job that was full time for Winter, and carried a salary of over £240K a year.Is it likely that that is really what has happened here? Or have we gone from a "leadership vacuum" to a "leadership black hole"?

I agree that there are a couple of confusing points:

-Bassini did indeed state he wanted to be something of a 'hands-on' owner, but now he is not even part of this executive committee. Maybe he will appoint himself in a position above this committee? It looks like Graham Taylor may be relegated into an honorary role, which be best considering his other commitments/limited business acumen.

-Surely this executive committee meet anyway as a sort of committee considering the important roles they play in the running of the club?

It all seems a bit of pointless political games which just creates a lot of uncertainty. And there aern't many things worse at a football club then uncertainty at board level. Hopefully all will be resolved by Saturday...

Agreed, these guys are working in their own departments already and will just continue to do so. Who are they reporting to? Who makes the final decision? The vacuum was created by ousting a CEO and until he is replaced the vacuum will remain. Maybe as it say that Timperley will 'head this up' he will be the defacto CEO but after his comments on Bas that seems odd.

I am afraid Bas is showing at every turn he is out of his depth.... and is now realising the toy he has purchased to make money out of is not so easy to play with.... and he has had his tantrum..... Now those who care are stepping in to keep everything working....

    Where is the strategic leadership....

When you examine this a bit more closely it looks like an attempt to solve the "confusion" problem that Timperley mentioned, but it will not solve the "leadership vacuum" problem. This "committee" looks like a "heads of departments meeting"--which any organisation should have on a regular basis, where heads brief each other and get a picture of what is going in in the whole organisation. Not hard to guess that secretative and inexperienced Bassini would not do that --Timperley has said he should, and this is it. But where does the strategic leadership and "vision thing" reside?

It is all explained, I think, in the piece on the OS after it deals with the GT/ Bas tiff.

Whoever chose the pictures should be given a round of applause, for while Bas looks like a puppy dog that has just been told off, GT has one of his best grins on display.

However returning to the matter in hand, I think it was written by Bas or his PR team.
