It's interesting Smug, not one of the musicians I listen to would ever win an Xfactor type competition. I always think of what Sam Cooke apparently said when someone told him he had a beautiful voice, he supposedly replied "Well that's very kind of you, but voices ought not to be measured by how pretty they are. Instead they matter only if they convince you that they are telling the truth.' Think about that the next time you are listening to a singer." True or not it puts talent into perspective for me.
Love that song....can't help but smile and sing along. One of my "go to" videos on YouTube was "Rockin in The Free World", but the live version from the "Weld" album/video. It's now a restricted video in the UK, so I think it's only available in the US. I've tried all ways to get it...even to download the video and save to phone, but can't seem to get it. I can get the audio, but not the video.
I wonder where these got their inspiration from.... A band called Asomvel, never heard of them until tonight. Imagine Motorhead playing AC/DC. I like it.
The whole album (American iv - The Man Comes Around) is all covers. Sensational album, well worth a listen...though I would say Hurt is the stand-out track for me. Track listing of the album.
This thread man, absolutely brilliant. I posted the above on March 18th, 23. Since @Montysoptician and @Oliver's Army posts, I've discovered Dylans back catalogue (still ongoing), read Rubin Carter's book, "The Sixteenth Round" (Dylans song, "Hurricane"), and tonight watched the film, "The Hurricane". My most watched videos on YouTube Since March?. Yep, "Positively 4th Street" and "Hurricane". Both brilliant. @Smug in Boots described "Positively 4th Street " as the most "beautiful, hateful song ever written"....a perfect description. So, to @Montysoptician and @Oliver's Army....thank you...and I genuinely mean that. I will end this post with a photo of the end credits of the movie "The Hurricane"....I'm off now to listen to the song.... The power of music....
Glad you enjoyed the movie mate, I ended up watching it as I like pretty much everything Denzel is in.
