It all depends on how much you're willing to believe all the stuff being reported. When stuff is contradictory we tend to believe that which matches our pre-conceived ideas.

When you've been banging on about the club's lack of spending and they come out with a humongous bid only for the player's agent to be in his ear to hold out for another club, you've got to invent something else to maintain your anger levels :bandit:

Sucky believes travelers in UFOs landed on earth and convinced Caicedo not to sign for us but big corporations are covering it up. Jimmy believes James Milner is to blame. Mito believes we're all going to die before Sunday anyway. Zanj thinks he's choosing Chelsea because it's located closer to a KFC.

It’s one thing the agent saying he prefers to go to Chelsea but when it was at that 1 minute to midnight point of putting a bid in big enough to secure his services, Chelsea didn’t. If Chelsea had been supposedly courting him for months and were so keen to get him , why isn’t he thinking , up yours Chelsea, you had your opportunity and you blew it, I’ll prove at my new club why you should have bid for me when you had the chance

It’s not like Chelsea were outbid by Tottenham, but by a club who are 6 times European Champions managed by someone who has won the lot.

it's this type of "deal" that real journos run from and hacks gamble on

Romano has basically staked his rep on this cos he expects Chelsea to not walk away just like that.

if he is wrong fully expect him to simply ignore it and pretend it never happened but people should be putting him in the guesswork column

If you mean me, Johnno, then I always wanted Lavia, albeit I thought £50m was a lot for a 19-year-old. BUT, you're right - I'm ****ing fizzing that we'd do a record bid for a player without even checking he'd come to us. Virgil rejected City to come to us. Ally rejected Chelsea. Darwin fobbed off a late bid from tent Peg. In all cases, we knew our man. But why the **** we haven't checked this guy out before we put in a RECORD BID...

That's what I'm angry about. But if it turns out we did check but now he's just reneging... well okay. But Klopp looked totally bereft this morning - if we're going to blow our wad, at least do the homework. I still think that if we had this money - or the ability to loan it - we should have gone for Bellingham, and had he rejected us for Madrid AFTER he'd shown the interest in us that he did, well I could take that far more phlegmatically. Or Gvardiol. To do what we've done is the worst of all worlds. Despicable.

Joyce reporting that Bloom now saying he's open to improved offers. There's getting the best you can and then there's sheer greed. I'm surprised by this latest statement. He's already being offered a £107m profit on the player.

This is the best transfer saga ever <laugh>

I thought Klopp's words were "I think I'm allowed to say now that Brighton have accepted our bid for Caicedo. Not sure details of medical .." ( as best as I can remember)

None of them have any as far as I'm concerned. Some are slightly less disreputable than others, and that's as charitable as I'm going to be.

    Examples of Offer Termination (lawteacher.net)

The first one is lapse of time. An offer lapses if it is not accepted within the stipulated time or when no time is stipulated, the offer will lapse after a reasonable time. A reasonable time is a question of fact depending on the subject matter of the contact, the means used to communicate the offer, the language used and other circumstances of the case. Usually, it is viewed from the general public.
Ramsgate Victoria Hotel Co v. Montefiore [1866] indicated that Montefiore applied for shares on 8 June but he was not sure whether he was successful or not because no one informed him. On 23 November, his offer was accepted. On the same day, shares were allotted to him. Then, Montefiore was told to pay the balance owing on the share but Montefiore refused to do so.
In case law Brodgen v. Metropolitan Railway Co [1877], the plaintiff sent a contract to the defendant setting out the terms and conditions on which it world supply coal to the defendant. The defendant did not expressly accept the offer. However, coal was supplied and accepted by the defendant, apparently on the terms set out in the plaintiff’s contract.

It was held that acceptance of the offer would be implied as the defendant accepted the offer by conduct. After the unconditional acceptance is made, the offer ceases to exist.

As a reminder and conclusion, acceptance is made after an offer will be done. Once the accepted is terminated, the only way that an offer can be revived is only if the original offeror wishes to revive it.

But you're jumping to the worst possible conclusion you can come to and hand-waving away any possibility that might mitigate the situation. We know you've hated FSG from day one, and this is just fuelling the fire, although for all we know they could have done everything by the book under the circumstances.
    We really don't know.
Besides, where in this negotiation do you think "FSG" stood? Who actually does the negotiating, and who exactly are you angry with? Shouting FSG all the time is redolent of society at large where people blame "them" for everything.
It's really pointless mate getting yourself in such a lather over this.

FSG as Meghan Markle. Or the boat people... Hmm, :emoticon-0138-think

Some ****'s head should roll for this IF (and I say if on face value) we didn't check the player's wishes out before putting a bid in. IF it's his agent is on a bigger retainer at Chelsea - well I forgive the club, but it's still way past the time for Liverpool to put out a statement saying they're sorry but they're walking away. This is the worst of all scenarios now.
