I feel stupid for thinking that football was taking a leading role against racism.....it seems it was just on mute for a while.

If FIFA had any integrity they would kick him out. So that won’t be happening.....

By "in football" does he mean on the pitch or in general.

To say there's no racism in football is one of the most stupid comments I've ever heard. The racism in the stands in Russia is disgraceful...then again he did just give them the World Cup.

    Absolute muppet.

Also resolved with "a handshake"?? Piss off.

Is it any surprise? The bloke's a total arsehole. FIFA gave the 2018 World Cup to Russia, a country where they still throw bananas at black players and openly show racist banners on the terraces, as they did about Odemwingie. He won't go and will laugh off all criticism and to rub it in the fat **** will be swanning around the Olympics in a VIP limo which will help cause gridlock through the capital. Hopefully, the terrorists might get him, no-one would cry...

Hes already back-tracking the slippery git! The trouble is he is the top dog at fifa and has to answer to no-one..If the FA,EUFA and all the other football leagues etc all get together and condemn this useless relic then maybe his position in FIFA will be untenable..but somehow this shady sod will survive this.

Sadly there is no chance of Blatter going. FIFA are more corrupt than most African dictatorships and Blatter is the worst of the lot. Anytime someone gets close to deposing him, they instantly find themselves thrown out of FIFA. It was beautifully proven just how useless an organisation they are when during the summer, he was the only candidate on the ballot paper due to all the others suddenly being found guilty of corruption days before the vote

Blatter is kept in power by the representatives of a number of countries who have personally made a lot of money out of the game with Blatter's collusion. Corruption is rife. Whilst he is there they can continue taking kickbacks, etc.

He gains backing for his leadership (from which he makes a considerable amount).
They gain from the kickbacks, etc.

A truely evil, symbiotic relationship, where each relies on the other for survival and can flourish.

Let me say I think Blatter is an absolute moron and a blight on our sport and if this creates enough of a stir to get rid of him then great.

However, I haven't posted a single comment on this issue since it broke directly after the Chelsea game around a month ago because the consensus was absolute; it was wrong and shouldn't have happened. I must admit though that Blatters sentiments are mine exactly.

When I heard about this controversy I thought it was ridiculous to say the least. And to say I didn't think it would escalate into this circus would be an understatement. What a hullabaloo over nothing. So Terry called Ferdinand a name. So what? They ain't children. It was a highly charged, full-blooded football match. Tempers were flaring and it could easily have totally kicked off. I'm not condoning racism of any sort but was this really racism or just two blokes going at it with their blood up?

Where do we draw the line? If a player is insulted for being fat? Ginger? Tall? Short? Skinny? Do we call in the PC brigade if a player is called "baldy"? I think its an absolute joke and to think he might lose the Captaincy of his Country over this is laughable. Needless to say my opinion of our big strong center-half has gone down big time over this. He should have been a man about it and shook hands and let it go when Terry came to him post-game.

And I can't honestly think I'm the only one on this board who thinks this way either.

Cheers mate. I wasn't even at the game but even from the TV I could hear the noise and sense the atmosphere. Coupled with the actions of the Chelsea players throughout, it was clear that LR was a cauldron of excitement, nervousness and tension all mixed together.

To then have a bunch of suits (no doubt munching prawn-sandwiches) to say "well that player can't say this" and "that player can't say that" and not contextualising it makes me feel like the players are treated like a bunch of children. Its supposed to be a mans game and a bit of this stuff must be allowed to slide because quite frankly its becoming a bit of a joke.

I actually with swords we want blood at any cost ... It's in our genes of which I am ashamed off at times .
We cannot unite any longer it seems
The media needs to have a long look at themselves as they cling to print yesterday's news on paper
We are all journalists now ... Even on here we tend to want to shaft our own team or replace them ... If we lose at Stoke there will be calls for new defenders flair and a goal scorer
We had those players all along

I'm afraid I have zero sympathy with your point of view Swords.

You ARE condoning racism by trivialising what happened. I was at the game and from the start Terry and a number of other Chelsea players lost the plot completely. The fact we only got 2 bookings against Chelsea's 2 reds and 7 yellows shows we kept our heads while they lost their's completely. Also their manager is up on a misconduct charge and Chelsea have been fined for failing to control their players. If they had won the game, there wouldnt have been such a hullabaloo. Their players wouldnt have lost their heads and their manager wouldnt have claimed the ref done all in his power to make them lose the game.

It wasn't two blokes just going at it, it was Terry losing the head and calling Anton a black c***. If he called him a c***, fair enough. That wouldn't have been racist but to use the word black is out and out racist. NO EXCUSES. The only reason it is escalating into a circus is the lenght of time it is taking the F.A. to sort out and the fact the the F.A. failed to suspend Terry from playing for Chelsea and England until this matter has been sorted out.

Nobody should be subject to racist abuse whilst doing their jobs. Terry was completely out of order and I hope he gets the book thrown at him. To say it is a hullabaloo over nothing is where you are wrong. It is, a hullaballoo over something from somebody who should have known better and is not a role model for young fans of his club or country to look up to. The F.A. have the responsibility to give him a lengthy ban and to make sure this sort of incident does not happen again otherwise some poor black kids all over England and Ireland for that matter will be getting racially abused as it is seen to be ok for John Terry to be racist.
