We're paper thin in several areas, I'd be surprised if we weren't "sandbagging" during summer. No way Klopp would have wanted them giving their all for a meaningless friendly. He's got a whole season to nurse them through... Two or three injuries this season and we could be in crisis mode.
you'd imagine they'd practices defensive shape though. Against darmstad Robertson was 5 yards behind the CBs at one point for no reason and Trent was running into their box like he was a no 8 and free to do so. Nobody was covering any body. I couldn't see the defensive hsape really coming together even after transition.
Both are examples of lack of focus and lack of discipline.. which may or may not carry over into the season proper. I agree, our defensive will be Anne Shambles if it continues the same way in season proper, but hopefully with the focus and urgency needed, they will do better.
Are the press conferences tomorrow for this? It could be very funny seeing klopp avoid transfer questions.
Personally don't think the players , with the exception of Trent , believe in the "system and i don't blame them
Apart from Ali and the front three, I don't think any of them even know what they're meant to be doing.
CHRIS SUTTON'S PREDICTION. Chelsea v Liverpool (16:30) This is another game where I don't really have much of a clue what to expect, especially from Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino has been unlucky to see Christopher Nkunku arrive and then get injured but it seems like the Blues are still looking to sign more players, and Liverpool are surely going to do the same. I don't see all the players leaving Stamford Bridge over the summer as being a problem, because not too many of them had a sensational season last time. They still have lots of very good players and it's just a question of how long Pochettino takes to find a settled side. Maybe Nicolas Jackson will end up being the man to step up and score the goals they need. Liverpool's defence is their worry, because there are plenty of goals in their team. We might see a few at both ends at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Sutton's prediction: 2-3 Joshua's prediction: 1-1 JONES KNOWS BEST. Since Jurgen Klopp tweaked Trent Alexander-Arnold's position ahead of the draw with Arsenal last season, Liverpool's performance levels spiked, with there being much more emphasis on his creative skills being utilised in a more central position. And whilst his prices across a variety of markets fail to mirror his new more attack-minded hybrid role, there remains betting angles to exploit. please log in to view this image Image:Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool's vice-captain this season In that period, no player made more successful passes in the opposition half (382) and no player registered more assists than the seven Alexander-Arnold conjured up in his final 10 Premier League games of last season. He also ranked second for penalty box entries (116) - simplified as balls played into the box - behind Kieran Trippier. And he ranked fourth for chances created (23). In a Liverpool team that surely won't hold back on Sunday, all this evidence points towards the 3/1 with Sky Bet on him registering another assist at Stamford Bridge being a strongly fancied play. SCORE PREDICTION: 1-2 | JONES KNOWS BEST BET: Trent Alexander-Arnold assist (3/1 with Sky Bet - Bet Here!) Manchester United vs Wolves, Mon Hearn's prediction: I think Chelsea are going to struggle again this year. I'll give them a draw here though. 1-1
Klopp on his 'I wouldn't spend £100m on a player' claim from 2016 Everything changed. Do I like it? No. Did I realise I was wrong? Yes. That's the way it goes. Saudi Arabia will not help with that. In the end, we have to try and make sure we get the best possible team together. 50% will like it and 50% won't. We are trying to bring together the best squad for us. We cannot just point on players and bring them in, there is a lot of work to do. Sometimes one door closes and another opens up. If people want to throw my quotes from five years ago, no problem. I realise I was wrong." Klopp on time-wasting I think time-wasting and rhythm-breaking has become a massive issue in recent years. I thought it would make sense to give earlier cards for time-wasting. But I hope we end up with a good solution - not 10-15 mins extra time and also loads of yellow cards." Klopp on changes to time added on in games It's difficult to answer. We have a 90 minute game. If we get to 55/60 minutes with the ball in play, we will see. It doesn't sound too difficult. We have too many competitions, too many games and having three or four minutes with the ball in play, I can't see it making a massive difference." Klopp on optimism for season ahead They show desire, concentration, the readiness, the openness. I saw a lot of things where my thought was, 'Okay, they mean business'. You could see it. We want to show up. We want to be in Champions League next year." Klopp on finding new leaders The new leadership group has to step up. The players who aren't in it, they have what it takes to be in there. Cody, Dom captain of his national team at 22, Macca as well. Let's take responsibility. Don't try to be like someone - try to be the best version of yourself." Klopp on changes to the team We have a new start with Liverpool FC reloaded if you like. Everyone was asking for changes, rightly so. The timing for a change is a biggest one in life. Now it happened and that's good. Everyone has to step up." Klopp on last season There were moments in the games where we were more open and not protected. It is an organisation thing, not down to individual talent." Klopp on pre-season I enjoyed it a lot. The boys were open, listening and eyes and ears open. We did a lot not only on the pitch but meetings as well. We really wanted to learn our game. It must be different, we want to go to next level in our game together."
he would have gone to chelsea and we would be sitting looking at him playing on sunday. now he is in limbo waiting for them to bid 111mil and he can't play as deadline for this weekend is past. I have decided this is genius by LFC. We've gone and cost chelsea about 20 odd million to get the player they wanted and delayed them getting it. what a fake bid.
