Tyler Adams could end up at Brighton if Caicedo goes to Chelsea. Would be hilarious if Liverpool miss out and show their hand that they've got 110 million for a DM
It definitely blows a hole in their negotiation position for Lavia if they come back in. Their fans will also be panicking if Caicedo falls through. That said - the Caicedo bid is arguably an indication of panic anyway And Adams will still go to Chelsea. Pretty sure fee and terms are agreed and medical booked
Only an opinion, but I would suggest they'd be better off spending £50m on Lavia and £61m on their very creaky defence. That would help any type of challenge far more.
Unless Chelsea are negotiating with Brighton and Tyler is happy to go there. Chelsea might say we will pull out for Adams.
Or on a reserve DM who could cover other positions. To hear them tell it (despite the waffling about their own youth player) they don’t have a single defensive midfielder at the club. Signing one and hoping he doesn’t get injured is certainly a choice. One that has blown up in our faces as least 3 seasons in a row
I agree. He wasn't the target of my opinion, one could almost say he was the only one who was absolutely PL material.
I’m not aware of many examples of a team pulling out at medical stage unless the medical fails. It’s a pretty scummy thing to do.
If he was they wouldn’t even have got to within 90% of the Lavia asking price. And they wouldn’t be massively overpaying for Caicedo. Scratch beneath the surface and most Liverpool fans seem to admit he doesn’t even play in a similar role
I’m trying to picture the scenes when Chelsea sign Caicedo and Adams and Liverpool come back to us with an offer of 47.1m (including all add ons) for Lavia. Having basically just gone all in and cards face up on Caicedo
If we have players that EPL clubs want, what the hell were they doing last season. Not the relegation that gets me (that has to happen to 3 clubs) but the manner of it.
Brighton fans must be pissing themselves. Kinda gutted Saints peaked a few years too soon. Imagine what VVD and Mane would have fetched in today's market.
