Just a thought that crossed my mind about Caicedo/Lavia. Everyone assuming that Liverpool using Lavia as a pawn but the same could be said about Chelsea with Caicedo? Brighton v public about their demands and they weren’t getting near it, Joe shields brought Lavia here and is supposedly a big fan so maybe both clubs throwing smoke screens as to who their actual target was Or just conspiracy bullshit that popped into my heads
So weird the amount of people that see Caiciedo as the far more experienced, complete player. He's played precisely 16 more games than Lavia in the Premier League.
To be fair, we had a lot of players play a lot of games over the last two seasons and they don't fit into the description of complete or experienced except in being basically not good enough for the PL. Now this season let's hope that changes!!
Oh yeah, I mean, Spurs are sh*t, and the appeal of UCL, with a team who are one of the favourites, is huge, don't get me wrong. There are legit arguments for and against, but I just disagree with those who believe any old trophy (Bundesliga in this case) is more significant than PL all time top scorer. Anyway, main thing is that hopefully this will reduce Spurs back down to nothing mid-table team, rather than nothing top-6 team.
Not sure Lavia fits in that group though. Had he not got that bad injury he’d have a very similar number of games to Caicedo despite being younger. Just in a better team
But what if Kane stays at Spurs, breaks Shearer's record and wins no trophies, then someone else comes along and breaks Kane's record? Then he's left with nothing, really. If he wins a few Bundesliga's and maybe a Champions League, he'll always have those.
It would be too funny if Kane decided to stay to try and get the PL highest scorer only for Haaland to decide he wants that title too.
Yep. Lots of 'ifs' either way. Nothing in life is certain. Of course his record will someday be broken. But being able to say that you were the top scorer for say twenty years, is huge imo. Shearer's name won't get forgotten if/when his record gets beaten. He's a legend, and so would Kane be. For me, only thing that would top it, is winning UCL. Winning Bundesliga though, nah. In years from now, I can see what people will say; "Kane couldn't win anything in England, so he had to go to Germany" etc.
Haaland can achieve so much more though. He's won everything in England already, so he could legit go on and win everything in Spain, Italy, Germany etc.
There are Liverpool fans who think they might sign both Caicedo and Lavia. I was going to say it would be nice to be that entitled / deluded as a football fan but I don’t think it would be. Even if they had the budget Lavia resoundingly knows he is second choice in a system where there is only one slot for him and would be up against the British record transfer
For me, I can't criticise anyone who leaves their comfort zone to go to another country to try and win trophies. The easy option for Kane would be to stay at Spurs for another year and then would have the pick of pretty much any top club in England (Man City the only club that wouldn't go in for him). I actually have a lot of respect for him for choosing to go to Bayern and potentially throwing away the opportunity to overtake Shearer.
At what point is Lavia going to say, "You know what, f*ck the lot of you. Premier League is sh*t. I'm Southampton til I die. Le God 4 England!", and end up staying?
See my post above. There are Liverpool fans out there who think they will still sign both. Or that they were always trying for both hence the penny pinching on the Lavia deal. Even at least one saying they might still be able to pull it off if Lavia submits a transfer request and says that he “only want’s liverpool”. So that tweet above is needed for people like that
Close to 0%. Maybe 0.5%. And those are the odds for staying for one more window. The other stuff - well I know is a joke
there's a world where he rejects teams like Brighton, Spurs etc on the say so of Man City wanting to sign him next summer for the agreed £40m. I can see that. but it looks unlikely. He'll go to Chelsea for £50m won't he - hopefully soon if it's going to happen so we can bring in what's needed.
