I honestly wouldn't mind Lavia going to Brighton. They are a classy organization, and I will be pulling for them to f**k up the cartel!

Couldn't agree more. They have done very well to keep DeZerbi over the closed season. I hope it continues but Top 6 clubs will all be looking enviously and I honestly won't be surprised if he's at Liverpool by Xmas.

Oh just chuck an extra £10m in there. It's almost like money is nothing to them.

Can't say I watched a whole load of football last season, and I don't doubt Caicedo must be incredible, but £110m for a defensive midfielder is absolutely insane.

Anyone else think we shot ourselves in the foot by playing Livramento at the end of last season? Had he not played, I can't see that Newcastle would have taken the risk.

Hope we learn from our mistakes. ABK is back in full training. Let's wait til September before playing him again.

Wouldn't pay £50Million for Lavia but then pay £110Million for Caicedo.. wow.
Wondwe what is going through Lavias mind now.

Simple answer: Klopp wanted to buy both. Explains the slow inching up in offers, he was trying to stretch the budget to buy both, both clubs held firm to valuations so buying both wasn't in the budget. With buying both not an option Klopp had to pick just one and had extra money to spend because now it didn't have to stretch over two players.

As for why he went with Caicedo over Lavia, my guess is age. We have exactly zero fit DM at the moment. We've got several players.who can play that role, but none who are naturals, or good.

If we sign just one DM he has to play every game he's fit. Lavia at 19 y/o would be at risk of injury, and probably permanently making him injury prone. I suspect age more than talent made Klopp go for MC. Liverpool has crocked too many teenagers over the years by overplaying them. Lavia is spared that fate.

It’s a fashion thing. No joke. DMs were boring and nobody wanted to be one but all of a sudden they are the tactical piece everyone is after. It’s like the position just got invented or there’s suddenly a 12th player on the pitch and clubs are scrambling to stock up. 110m seems to be the new 30m. It’s just insane.

Upsetting as it may be, I think Charlie Alcaraz is going to end up at Brighton.

I haven't heard anymore regarding the Ipswich's supposed interest in Armstrong. If I am honest, I would not be adverse to replacing the whole of the front line we had last season with Nathan Tella being retained. It is not difficult to have some sympathy for Adam Armstrong as he has always given 100% (even if it is never in areas of the pitch where he could be a threat) but I just cannot see how he could improve sufficiently to achieve what we are looking for. Time to move on, in my opinion.

Different position but with the money they have then maybe. More likely they come in for Lavia, which would be great as we can put in a nice sell on clause for when someone pays £100m next summer!

    That is absolutely huge.

How the hell do spurs replace him? Can honestly see them bottom half of the table without his goals. They REALLY need Son to re-find some form

So they’ve basically led Lavia on all window, and ended up going for the other option?

and people wonder why everyone thinks Liverpool are scummy?

We now have a 19 year old kid on our hands who’s head will be all over the place

Bit of a step down for Lavia though! I reckon Chelsea is more likely.

I think/hope Chelsea will come in for him, after all they wanted him last season.
And to work under Poch will be attractive option for him.
