you think people are burning pubs down on purpose they can be repurposed for people to build properties on? First i've heard of loads of pubs being burnt down but you raise a good point.
A property generally a pub is left to ruin, then at some point it will be torched, so the local authority want rid of the eyesore and grant planning permission for change of use, to flat dwellings or that's how it seems to me. The pub in the link caught fire, and within two days it's pulled down by contractors, before any investigation is complete on suspected arson. Nowt to see here Bobby, move along now please.

I grew up seeing huge fires as a kid not so much anymore but the farmers used to light them for whatever reason but it was a yearly occurrence until the land was no longer farmed

There use to be lots of it in Kent, that's if the kids hadn't got to it first before the farmer had harvested. Most land getting sold up for housing these days, we've got Ukraine for all our needs now, oh no hold on lol.
