I was hoping someone else could do the match thread as my last effort included a sadly wrong prediction (not as far off course as @Smudger603, but he can claim to have more confidence in the mighty Addicks). So we met the mighty Posh, who I imagine annoyed a lot of Charlton fans by rolling over against the Massives after seemingly having everything tied up after the home leg of the play offs at the end of last season. We seem to be a bit of a work in progress right now, and with our usual injury list beginning to kick in, so I'm not sure how much optimism we should be carrying given how well Newport dealt with us. I'll be following on the stream as usual (possibly on the beach as the family are making noises about getting some sunbed time in) but a tough afternoon could be in store.
Keep up the good work Ken You never know, you might end up starting every match day thread this season My expectations for this game took a knock after Tuesday. I appreciate we'll probably see another 9 or 10 changes, but Peterborough are a good cut above Orient.
Work in progress is a good term tbf. If you would like to volunteer yourself as the organiser of matchday threads that will be fantastic. A word of advice, please do not predict Charlton losing as a prominent poster on here gets very upset
Probably a bit early for the masses to turn on SE7 and their shady backers. But that will happen in the fullness of time. If Posh dish out a spanking today, and if things don't go well next time we appear at the Valley, I wouldn't be surprised if the team gets some stick though. I believe (if my memory doesn't play me false) it was at our second home game last season that the players were told they weren't fit to wear the shirt? Or was that the second home game of the 2021-22 season? I imagine many Charlton fans are simply sick and tired of awful performances. If it becomes a pattern again it'll be the players, then the Gaffer who gets pelters. When nothing is done to put it right, the Cayman Cabal will be next.
Not too disheartened, we’re far from the finished article, I will judge come the end of August when the window has slammed shut and we’re still needing players in
The stats show that the game is quite even, unfortunately a last minute goal totally changes the second half tactics.
Tested against potential top 6 opponents - test failed. Granted we're only two league games in. But our travelling supporters must already be getting that old familiar feeling...
