If we don’t learn by our mistakes we’ll keep doing the same thing. Come the end of the season if we don’t finish as high as we’d like ie top 10 pushing for playoffs , guess what NP”s answer to SL will be?, if we want to be successful we all have to be pulling together, from the top down. SL can be arrogant at times. I thought he’d learned his lesson when he appointed NP, it seems it was window dressing, NP will take so much, then bugger off, I can see it coming. I can’t see SL being enamoured with NP’s response to the Scott situation last night, it made him look like a twat.
For me the main cog the Manager should have been kept in the loop-that is down to Steve L and his man who took over from Ashton.
That’s the man. I genuinely don’t think it would have happened with Gould, NP would have been kept in touch.
I don’t think it mattered who was/is in that position.. SL will always have the final say and it doesn’t matter who the manager is. He’s a business man that’s made millions through the decisions he’s made and how he’s made them. It seems to be his way!
He’s made millions but we are still a championship club, is it about making money for the sake of it or are we ambitious for success on the field. BTW imagine how much money we could make if we actually get promoted
Nige knew he was going, he said last month him and Tinnion had a plan post Alex Scott. We wanted £25 million and we never once said £25 million down payment. So we’ve got what we wanted for him. Nige is going to be pissed off, but he knew coming to a championship that once a Prem club comes in for a player then that’s it. It’s a food chain and there are only clubs like Real Madrid who don’t have to look up. What he’s not going to do is shout his mouth of weve now got this much money as he knows that players he tries to buy he don’t want to pay Alex Scott tax on. So teams think we’ve got a budget they don’t push back thinking they are loaded. Also remember it was SL that went out and got Nige, it wasn’t the other way round that he applied for the role.
i wish scott all the very best, if indeed he goes, but at the same i will be glad to see the monkey off our back and look forward, pearsons known he is going for months now so lets just get on with it... plan b etc.
Over the last 2 decades or so and despite repeated publicly seen mistakes it seems he hasn’t learned a single thing And with his resources and continued spiel over the years that he wants us at the very top of the tree, aside from the stadium. he’s full of hot air and we’ve achieved very little else of note even when very well placed But we already knew that right ?
i kept sending SL private messages and said Nigel Pearson was the man for the job. That was always going to be in his mind i kept banging on he was the man for the job.
For me I think where we’d be without him. He’s a local man made good. I’m not sure I’d want the club owned by someone withouit that local connection. What ever you think of him any financial mistakes he pays for. I just wish he’d be a bit more adventurous at times.
Why don’t you do the same about keeping our best players long enough to make a proper push for promotion.
I guess you don’t become a billionaire by throwing your money around But on the other hand, and if you’re not going to go for it when the chance appears once in a lifetime then why bother talking it up in the first place ? Because we could and should have got automatic promotion back in 2008 and with Lansdowns proper financial investment in the winter transfer window we’d have been promoted I’m quite sure I hope he looks back and regrets not taking a proper punt now. It didn’t have to break the bank either
The club moves on-got a excellent price for him-however my concern is no reinvestment that is concerning. @BristolCity @NigelGPearson should be able to make the team stronger not weaker.
I agree with ROD's comment they are not going to announce a big expenditure in advance, they'll keep quiet, if people think Nige is going to spend all of a sudden they will up the anti, also this Bolton prospect is a new name we are connected with, makes life interesting - George Thomas https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-bolton-alex-scott-8668700 , I agree about the club moving on, no matter how excellent one player doesn't make a club.
You know common sense is not welcome on this forum don’t you? , whatever next ? you just don’t get it, I come on here to moan and be unreasonable, the last thing I want is to hear reasonable comments
I would have thought though that the fee should have been undisclosed so other clubs wouldn’t latch on that we have money to spend.. that’s presuming our intention is to strengthen our squad!
