We had our entire forward line injred though didn't we, and defensively we went from worst in the league to one of the best under Rosie so we've far from deteriorated defensively under him based on last seasons numbers.
In Hull City's recent friendlies, league match and cup match we seem to be not trying very hard to score but our opponents seem to try very hard to prevent us from scoring we need to try harder
Bit early to say that yet this season. And of course we're expecting 3 incomings that should help with that.
I hope they do I like Connolly but I'm not sure the other new players are upgrades on what we had but it is early for new players to be judged
Lokilo did more in Tuesdays abysmal performance than Ebiowei in all his time here. Vinagre looks an upgrade on Elder. Delap was excellent at Norwich and looked dangerous again when the changes were made on Tuesday. I don't see how we are any weaker than last season and most business is still to be done.
We're definitely not weaker on paper and based on certain individual performances, but so far we're playing a lot worse. It is early in the season. As I say, need a good performance on Saturday, ideally a result as well.
I'd rather lose and have a good performance than win and play badly we need to start looking like we have sensible tactics
Yeah I have to admit, I'm in the same boat, I don't understand the sudden turnaround.. Last season a lot of people were very positive, we'd clearly improved under Rosenior and while some had trepidations about the lack of goals and the playing out from the back style, overall it was hard to argue that it wasn't an improvement on Shota or Grant. Football is all or nothing, people want all the transfers today and promotion in September. I can see the other side and Tuesday was objectively bad, there's no other way about it, even the 8-0 against Wigan had some moments where we moved and looked like a football team. I want Rosie to do well, much the same as I want any manager we get to do well. LR does have a bit of bias from me because he's a former player and somebody I've met several times, so I feel more of a connection to him than I do others, but if Tuesday night's performance is a template for the upcoming season, we're in trouble and no amount of misty eyed nostalgia will save him in my eyes. Club before personnel, always. I think he's intelligent enough to pull it round and he knows as well as anybody that a few more performances like that will see him gone.
Players get you the sack And if they don’t fancy him as manager as you alluded to the other night then he’s toast toast!!
I don’t understand where this suggestion has come from that we looked poor last season under Rosie. The last few home games, didn’t we only lose to Burnley? I think our performances weren’t amazing but we all know the limitations we had with the team. Now we haven’t signed many new players and the only real player we have back fit is Oscar (who didn’t start Sat but his replacement did and scored) but apparently Rosie is a crap manager? Im not burying my head in the sand, the last two performances have been very very underwhelming but at the same time, are we really so impatient we need rapid improvement as soon as the season starts with largely the same team as the end of last season? Really? This could all go sour still and Rosie may be a rubbish manager but come on. He’s not even got the first team together we’ll be lining up with at the end of September. All managers have poor performances, even Pep. The decent managers react to it. Let’s give him chance shall we?
