4-6 trophies they probably win regardless of him being there. 4-6 participation medals. 4-6 times you get given a medal and the reaction is “Well done Harry, thanks for coming, but you’re still a bottle job because you could only win with Bayern” I don’t think it moves the needle on how his legacy is perceived by those outside Spurs, obviously unless he wins the CL. I’m definitely overreacting emotionally and with my Spurs glasses on, of course. I do get it from his perspective, for all the reasons you describe. But I also just don’t get it. What do those domestic trophies actually mean? It’s also just so blatantly a grab for silverware at this stage in his career and life. Move 3/4 years ago and your family is less settled and it’s an adventure. This is just so obviously a player using the move to check a box.
But that's the thing, checking a box is all that's basically left to do on his CV. He's achieved practically everything else; League, Club and Country legendary status, multiple individual awards and records, only things missing are trophies, so he's going to a team that can give him some. This club has failed him - and Son - we've had two superstars and failed to build a sufficient team around them. The guy's given us 9 years of elite performances that we'll almost likely never see again from a striker, to not fully capitalise on that lies at one person's door.
Glad it's finally over tbh. Kane has been a joy to watch but (as harsh as this sounds) he is as responsible as everyone else for us falling short in winning a trophy. His record in big games... semi finals and finals (for us and England) is the complete opposite of the rest of his records for both club and Country. It would have been great if we'd have won trophies with him but it weren't to be. We will be weaker without him no doubt but we recovered from losing Carrick. Keane, Berbatov, Bale and Modric and moved forwards with 2 years of those loses so maybe we can do the same (down) under Ange... See wot I did there?
I'm a bit confused at the lack of serious interest from Madrid. They dipped their toe in the waters very early on in the window but withdrew immediately. The potential of picking Mbappe and Kane up for free next summer must be too good to resist, surely?
In other news... Those ever-reliable Turkish sources claim that Fenerbahce are beginning talks of freeing us from the Ndombele nightmare, too
I know timing wise in relation to this season the Kane deal isn't ideal but at least we are going into a season where we don’t expect anything anyway with a fully clean slate rather than have a decent season with Kane then be starting again next year when he leaves. Even without him I Still think we’ll finish in the European places though and with 5th place likely to get champions league as well, who knows.
Good luck to him if he leaves, and whilst I’ve always thought he will, there’s still a chance he might not. Perhaps Ange has done enough to keep him? but regardless of Kane (who most of us wouldn’t begrudge a transfer) Levy has got a lot to answer for. Again. 2 day before the start of the season. It’s just utterly unacceptable.
Plenty more fish in the sea lads ... the blokes brought a huge fee just as his legs are about to go. I know I take the piss but it'll all be fine lads ... Trust the process.
This isn’t acceptable for a club in our position. The right thing to do after a bad season would be to keep the player at all costs (if he’s not pushing a move) and show ambition over 12 months to get a new contract sorted and build around him. He’s one of the best strikers in world football. Accepting a bid 2 days before the start of the season when he’s said he’s happy under Ange just once again highlights that the decisions aren’t about the football. Sick of it.
I don't even think it'd be on Ange if Kane stayed but likely Kate and the fact she's due in the next week or two IIRC, Kane might have wanted the move earlier in the window so he and Kate could be settled in Germany and then she'd ready to pop in due course. Moving a young family with a new one on the way to a new country probably isn't ideal. I still think he goes but I just think that's the reason that may be giving him some second thoughts.
Surely BM wouldn’t have pursued this deal if Kane hadn’t personally indicated to them he would be willing to join them? I’m aware that Kane officially shouldn’t be allowed to talk to BM until an agreement has been reached between the two clubs but we all know it does occur. Far as I’m aware, he’s gone whether it’s to BM or another club should spurs receive another bid.
The PL was invented to make money and once it existed football was just a means to an end. That end might be just simply making millions as in Bates at Chelsea or Ashley at Newcastle, or to use for personal or state promotion. Levy always takes decisions on a financial basis, at least he is a fan of sorts. Before the PL owners still sought personal aggrandisement but this came through football success as with Walker at Blackburn or Kenwright at Everton..
Completely agree. I just feel so sorry for Ange too. Whilst he’s got experience with rebuilds, it feels like we’ve thrown him under a bus.
It`s vintage Levy, he has always put the finances ahead of the football and always will. Kane is a generational talent, a Spurs lad, who has been failed by owners who failed to build a successful team around him, we saw the same movie 10 years ago with Bale and nothing has changed. I`m not sure why he would choose Bayern though, he will be leaving the PL for a weaker league and a few cheap German medals, albeit to play in the CL every season. The England Captain leaving the UK to go and play for a load of Germans also does not sit well.
Just a bit out of date. Germany is now one of the most progressive countries in Europe unlike the UK.
