Nah I think the fee is. Reports kept saying Levy wanted a deal that was worth in excess of £100m and this deal is £95m fixed plus another £10m-£15m in add ons.

I thought most were saying the base had to be 100 Sterling then plus add ons. I know it’s close and it’s a hell of a lot of money but come on. It’s Kane, and it’s 3 days to the first game of the season.

Mate, you've seen how this club’s operated over the last five years, does anything genuinely surprise you any more?

The rumour was that he’d stay if he played vs Brentford too, so anything up to it was fair game I guess.

And now we’re gonna watch that Brazilian donkey lead the line. I’m just so deflated now, all the optimism Ange brought in is being sucked out by this ****ing club.

In reference to the training pics doing the twitter rounds I guess.

Best tweet I’ve seen on it. Football will never mean more than it does now, for Kane. Going to Bayern to win the Bundesliga is a box ticking exercise. Fine, if thats what he wants. He’s an elite professional and I understand the drive to have a medal or two in the bank. But it’s not going to make people think any more of him. Those who are his detractors won’t change their minds. He could score a hat trick in the CL final and still get pelters.

There’s a healthy dose of fan romanticism mixed up in this but I just think it’s not the move he’ll be fulfilled by.

He wanted to go City don’t forget but that never materialised.

Realistically I don’t see what other option satisfies Kane’s desire for trophies. Mbappe is likely Madrid’s prime target so can’t go there, doubt he fancies potentially replacing Mbappe at PSG where Ligue 1 is even worse than the Bundesliga and no one in Italy could afford him.

A Bundesliga at Bayern means nothing when they’ve won it for a decade without him. For someone from Germany or the region I’d get it, regardless, but that’s not Kane. Last season was awful by their standards and they still did it on the final day. The only way the move means anything is if he wins the CL.

If Madrid sold Rodrygo (which there's been some unverified rumours of happening), I could see them going for Kane. Mbappe seems dead set on moving to Real Madrid for free in 2024, so he wouldn't cost a hefty transfer fee for them. A front 3 of Mbappe, Kane and Vinicius would be utterly devastating.

Honestly, there's a part of me that also believes his preference is to stay in England ideally, but as you've said, City have moved on from him now. So you look at the other options. Chelsea and Arsenal will never happen, Liverpool wouldn't stump up the cash for him + don't need him, it's too soon for Newcastle.

The only other potential possibility in England is Manchester United, but Levy would likely ask for even more than £90m to sell to a domestic rival, so even that seems speculative at best.

    His options are very limited.

So where does he go to fulfil the trophy desire?

Signing Kane drastically improves their chances of this happening. They'd be one of the favourites to win it if they sign him IMO.

Utd’s a pointless move for him as they don’t guarantee trophies, even with him. He’d basically just be getting a pay rise and CL football, better than we can offer of course but I don’t think it satisfies his wants.

Plus they just signed the wish.com Haaland so doubt they’ll then spend another £100m on a striker.

Genuinely don’t know. He ****ed it with the botched attempt at getting to City.

I guess I’ve just never got the Bayern move. Might as well go to Celtic. Unless he’s really pinning his hopes on winning the CL while City are in a bit of a transition and Madrid don’t have Mbappe.

It doesn't guarantee trophies, but it massively improves their chances. Besides, apart from City right now, no-one is guaranteed to win trophies in England. Kane is a certified level-raiser. They would go from top-4 contenders to legitimate title challengers with his signing.

I don't think the move will happen btw, I'm just saying I think it's the only other place in England he could go to if his wish was to stay here.

Bayern are just the City of Germany though really so I don’t think it’s too dissimilar of a move.

The CL is probably something on his mind with them too, let alone the usual Bundesliga/ Pokal stuff.

I think it’s a move that makes sense from his perspective, it’s just ****ing **** for us.

To clarify, I’m not upset at Kane. I’m disappointed and perhaps don’t fully get it but he’s given us everything over the years. It stings but he’s the best I’ve seen in a Spurs shirt. Simply unbelievable.

Levy though, I’m utterly furious at.

Yeah that’s what I’m getting at though. For someone from England (or wider Great Britain and Ireland) winning the PL is always significant. Even for people outside those nations it’s the biggest league in the world but especially in the Anglosphere. In terms of Anglosphere football culture it’s bigger than anything at club level outside the CL. I understand the Bundesliga is a major league and probably massive for people from the German cultural sphere but that isn’t Kane. I don’t know if I’m articulating it very well.

At Kane’s age and stage in his career I think he just wants the guarantee of trophies and it makes sense. Finishes his career a Tottenham legend, Tottenham all time scorer, a Prem legend and second top scorer (which he could still break if he returned after a few years), England top scorer and also a league champion in Germany plus a slim shot at adding a CL.

Utd just aren’t that club any more. Their neighbours are.

I honestly think if he wanted to stay in England he’ll just stay at Spurs unless an opening at City came where Haaland left.

I fully get you what you’re saying, I just sort of disagree.

A major league title is still great to have on your CV and the Bundesliga is probably the third best after Prem and La Liga but the guaranteed options right now to win those leagues are either sorted for a striker or have a prime target already.

So I think Bayern is Harry’s best choice. Huge club, strong league, only an hour or so flight away from home, similar cultures and barring any monumental failures he picks up around 4-6 trophies within the next 2-3 years.

Arguably they're not that: they're the Old Firm of Germany, but at least Scottish fans have the option of flipping a coin every season
