Scouting report on Gyabi as promised and unfortunately he didn't look like a player who's going to break into the first team anytime soon. Subbed off at half time and rightly so as he struggled to play the defensive holding role whilst Archie Gray was played higher up the field in a No'8 role. Don't think we'll be seeing much of Gyabi in the near future unless injuries leave us no choice. Gray was much more effective second half when along with Ampedu they played as the holding duo and we benefited massively from their good all round play.
Unless we play him 90 minutes every game for a 50 game season and finish his career by the time he is 22. We have a duty of care for the kid. He needs help to take the workload off him. You're right though, oozes quality. The turn on the edge of his own box (when Darlow gave him it in a dangerous position btw) 2nd half drew gasps from the crowd.
Bate showed more class in 2 mins than some of them did in 45 or 90 and think he' might get a few more opportunities now some have fluffed their lines. Gyabi Hjelde Joffy (even though he scored) All three will be getting Farked off soon.
To clear up. 1st half started ---------------------Darlow Ayling--Cresswell--Ampadu--Hjelde -------------Gyabi------Shackleton Poveda-------------Gray--------James ----------------------Gelhardt 2nd half started --------------------Darlow Ayling--Cresswell--Struijk----Byram ---------Ampadu------Shackleton Poveda-------------Gray--------James ----------------------Gelhardt Poveda went down with cramp and then got fouled straight after. He walked off fine to a standing ovation. Cresswell took a nasty tumble when he jumped for a ball and the striker did a 'Kane' and backed in, bent forward and Cresswell went head first in to the turf from a height. He wasn't moving great after that but carried on until the end. Shrewsbury were very well organised in a deep 5-4-1 formation. They were physical, dug in and held their shape. Kenneh worked hard in midfield for not much reward but I felt their midfield three were a better unit than ours in that miserable 1st half. Leeds saw the Whites of the keepers eyes plenty enough but dithered with the ball or missed the target. Poveda x2, James x2 and Sinisterra all had 1 v 1 opportunities from tight angles and only Poveda hit the target and made the keeper work on the one occasion which led to the goal (which rebounded off Joffys hip).
Going by reports, Gyabi at £5m I was going to ask what were we thinking then remembered Orta signed him
He is hopeless i have never rated him. Poveda has taken his chance to stake a claim so i got that one wrong....... So far
Their goal certainly took a deflection so will give Darlow the benefit of the doubt - he probably had it covered without it.
