I've just had a little look. They used to select a mascot from the "list of Season Ticket Members between the ages of five and twelve ..... to fulfill that dream role with no charge for the experience" (2018 link). Currently they offer "an Everton in the Community Mascot Package .... which costs £599 + VAT"
disgusting really. I'd you add up their maybe 21 games a season at woodison times 11 mascots the maximum take is 138,369. surely they could at least raffle off for charity or go look for local kids in schools etc. 599 a head for rich kids to get a picture is horrid imo. it's one weeks wages for a player. there's plenty of disadvantaged kids who'd love that. I'll bet the zero to is 1 kid here and there when there's no TV cameras
Premier league claim a mid season break is becoming unworkable. meanwhile the Premier leavue starts a week later than the championship due to an fa slush fund shield. someone would really be able to work this one out. move the slushfund to Wednesday night and play the league 1 week earlier to insert a 2 week break after Christmas. radical thought to delete the efl cup from the calander.
It's our chance of a trophy! Seriously, the EFL is probably the best chance lower clubs get for a run and a remunerative clash with a bigger fish. Can't sacrifice that for the selfish big clubs.
the fa cup is worth more. the efl cup is really not worth it as big clubs play **** teams and if the tie is at theirs then the small club gets nothing but a kicking. seriously, if say I dunno Oxford utd manage to get past round 1 and 2 and draw city at home about all they get for those extra games is the gate. the prize money and tv money is tiny. the fa cup gets more attention
If we were serious about such a decision rather than just chewing the fat we'd have to ask those clubs whether they want to be in it or not. My guess is that most would say they want it.
Maybe just don't include the clubs that are competing in European football to ease their fixtures, this would also mean we're likely to see different teams win it rather than the regular teams
Yes, I considered that - but I wondered whether that would make the competition less attractive to the lower clubs and to the public in general and lead to the demise mito is looking for.
I think you are mistaking the EFL for a democracy not Parry's chew toy. Parry will take any money handed down by the prem to do just about anything he could get away with. Yes a small club who has a tiny budget will say sure i want to be in it but in reality they will only get by the league 1 or championship sides once in five years. once they do that and play a lower prem side then you usually don't get a great tie. the FA cup has what? 4 qualifying rounds that the grass roots can follow to get to round 1. At least for the league clubs and non league they have a small shoit at a tie in the 3rd round. They'd all take a stipend from the premier league over the game cos it costs to put on games seriously though if they were paid off they' d probably turn round and invest more into the lower league cups and play more game there. the last game we had was Lincoln away in 2020 which was prob behind closed doors and before that MK dons i n2019 and notts county in 2013? the games have to be at home to mean anything to these sides.
Just like they're investigating Man City and Everton. Expect to hear a verdict in 2028 at the earliest.
In spain the European clubs come in really ****ing late into the copa del rey. the same old super elague oil clubs will win the cups every year anyway. the only advantage any of these clubs get is a home tie and gate money out of this **** show of a cup. did you know the prize money First round winners £5,000 Second round winners £7,000 Third round winners £10,000 Fourth round winners £15,000 Quarter-finalists £25,000 Semi Finalist £25,000 Runner-up £50,000 WInner £100,000 Putting your team out on the park will cost them more than that in an away tie LOL.
Oops - I was mistaking it for a domestic cup competition that started in 1960. Rick Parry must have started chewing early.
Irrelevant. We're talking about the existence of the competition, not who happens to run it atm. Should we abolish LFC because we don't like the way FSG are running it? Daft argument.
I'm just saying the clubs won't get asked, parry would sell it off for compensation if he felt it was in his interest. I'm fairly sure that should 10 rich Prem clubs buy 10 league 2 clubs as feeder clubs he'd be all for that too.
