I omitted DCC because it’s basically a loan & commitment to buy end of season but you’re right regarding Salisu; £10m profit?
Depends on what kind of profit you mean. Between 5 and 10m on fees paid and received. But he would have been in our accounts at about 2.75m. So FFP profit of the transfer fee minus that. I’m sure loyalty fee is also deducted from that net figure as well But I assume you mean the former
I’d be surprised if Downes wanted to give up on his boyhood club after just 1yr at a relatively young age, especially for a second division side. A loan would be all good with me.
Yeah sort of. None of us know all the behind the scenes purchase & sales packages but just trying to state it’s definitely not the selling price of €18m or whatever.
Probably down to what west ham decide. If they tell him he isn't in their plans, which is likely with JWP & Alvarez arriving, and that they want to cash in then it could happen. Especially as he has thrived under Martin before.
Think he’d still rather the loan, hope he has a good season with us and West Ham change their mind/puts himself more in the shop window for another PL move
The worst part for me is that we have lost yet more experience. Even if you don’t rate him as a player like a few on here, there is no denying that he has been our talisman. He has been the leader of the team and even the reason certain players have chosen to come to saints. I think there was a real void of leadership/experience/connection with the club even with him here. But with him gone as well we are so short of leadership. That is a real concern
