Because Kalas wouldn’t sign the contract placed in front of him.

Not on good terms would be my take on it.....bit like Massengo IMO......weird as the fans loved him as do they Kalas.....but don't seem to be in NP's plans..
But hey...IMO, it's his team and now there can be no excuses IMO..

in that massively long insight to NP he did address the fact he was not perfect and his attitude sometimes was a stalling point but 2 ways to look at Kalas from what posters put forward .... a falling out or an injury protection and team doing reasonably well. From his [ NP ] early month's of friction/ reaction to certain players he does have a streak of "I am the boss and you do as I say or want or screw you" ..... without actually giving a second chance or understanding even starting to, a players concern.
Body language is very subtle and always a giveaway his PNE interview has a few cracks in it when discussing players [Kalas ] ... he is far from perfect [ no manager is ] but I await the next victim in this squad !

obviously long term did not show commitment-so was dropped I’m with him on this.Look at what wants to be here and not ones that want away.

Of course you are:emoticon-0152-heart:emoticon-0152-heart but, if NP had shown some leeway, and been less pig-headed, maybe Kalas would have stayed?

    Nige’s notes: Oxford United
    08 Aug 2023
Hello and welcome back for our midweek Carabao Cup game and we extend that welcome to Liam Manning and his Oxford United team.

We were thrilled to have you all back inside Ashton Gate on Saturday for the season opener and we’re looking forward to midweek football returning.

It was disappointing not to take more than a point from Saturday’s game but it’s a reminder of how tough the Championship can be. There will be days when teams set up to frustrate us and we will continually work on finding the solutions and imposing ourselves.

We were delighted for Sam Bell to get his first goal of the new season. He’s always a threat because of his pace and he’s a good finisher.

We had to work hard to get openings because Preston came with a plan to deny us space in behind which is something we’re going to have to solve on more occasions this year. Teams recognise that we have pace to hurt them, both in the starting XI and from the bench.

We showed patience at times, but we didn’t quite find the rhythm once we’d gone ahead and our goal actually sparked Preston into life.

There were debuts for Rob Dickie and Jason Knight, and I think they both did very well which isn’t always easy on your first outing for a new team. Rob is an accomplished player at this level and that was very evident to see while Jason will also get better.

There’s still debuts to come from Haydon Roberts and Ross McCrorie and I’m sure you’re all looking forward to seeing them.

    Enjoy the game.

    Cheers, Nige

Not too fussed about the LC unless we can get to the quarter final stage or beyond.

But I do hope Nige is going to try a different approach tonight, in preparation for Millwall.

A good performance tonight, we didn't lose Saturday, a change of tactics and we should get a win and through to the next round, 3-1 to us I hope.

We’ve played one game and we have the typical over reaction from some especially on OTIB, one game into the season ffs, anyways a good performance and win tonight would be great going into Saturday but it’s a real shame about Conways injury.

I know we shouldn't judge after 1 game. What fired me up Saturday was PNE knew we'd try and play out. They penned us in and we were left with Max launching it 90% of the time to their CH. We didn't pick up the 2nd ball as we were outnumbered in midfield. It was clear from minute 1 and disappointed with NP setting the team up as he did.

Oh I agree, I was disappointed with how we played, didn’t mean anyone from here, just other forums are way to negative imo.
