True, but if the deal is really agreed, he won’t want to get injured. Can’t see him playing a part at all tbh. He will be gone before Saturday. “Mr Southampton”, took us down then ran off the first chance he got. Hope his career is a spectacular failure from here
I love him, but he’s not a club legend imo. Club legends are the sort that get statues built etc. could have been him, but he left for cash
If he’s going(which looks likely) he should be nowhere near the team on Saturday. Fingers crossed he will be gone by then, time to move on.
Aarons seems to be Leeds bound. So hopefully it was only ever a case of a rehashed old rumour rather than us losing out
We have very few tbh in my life time le Tiss & Dodd probs the only ones that are conceivably club legends. I’d say Rickie lambert is up there too, I know he also left but I’ll forgive him as he was going to his boyhood club.
JWP was always 90% to go. Small chance he would stay, but not to be. He is going to feel pretty silly next season though when he is in the Championship again and we are in the Premiership No ill will to him. It's his career.
Benali as he is a local man and also still does so much for the city. Edit: And I have met him loads of times and he is a really nice guy
Both in my lifetime but before my time really, no idea if Dodd had many chances to leave and turned them down as that seems to be your criteria for legend. Same with Benali but he has also added to his legend after retirement, Le Tiss and Lambert probably not so much
Sad that he's going, of course. Always gave 100% for the club. Not sure why people are going crazy about it though, it was always the most likely scenario, and I wish him well.
If we could only have held on to players, Walcott, Bale, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Lambert and Ulrich van Gobbel all could have been true Saints Legends...
