It says quite a lot about how enjoyable I find football now that I believe meltdowns on not606 are much more entertaining.
He’s a saints legend for me. Not the greatest player we ever had by any means but a Saints stalwart thru and thru. Has no doubt had many opportunities to leave and could have gone for more money years ago but didn’t. Don’t begrudge him his move and look forward to the endless highlight reels of his free kicks. Cheers Prowsey, probably a good time to part ways. Such a **** club to be going to, ask Fonte.
Bournemouth and Wolves have both gone that high verbally according to my mate who works at the club, but they want more. I doubt he will move to another Champ team anyway even if we were to get a bid accepted
Knew from Russell's interview last night it had been agreed. He said something to the effect of his night was bad and got worse.
I’m sorry, but no one that ****s off to West Ham for a bit of cash can no longer be considered a club legend. In the same way the Fonte & Lallana tarnished any legend status they had at Southampton, so will jwp. I will look back on all of them fondly; but they are not Southampton legends. Now he’s gone he can **** off. He led us down and then ****ed off when we needed him.
I picked up on that and wondered what he meant. Didn't know if he mispoke but maybe you are on to something
Im sure Martin (like everyone else) knew players like JWP would be off so it shouldn’t come as a surprise. When the club were interviewing him and laying out plans etc he would’ve known who was likely going and how much money he would get from the sales if we’ve been as thorough as we claim and sticking to transfer values etc this all would’ve been known when Martin walked in the door.
I don't mind this meltdown. It means things are finally happening. We need to move on to the excitement of getting quality replacements. We are still the big financial fish in this league and we can buy the best players to get us out of it. Players who want to be here.
I’m keeping pretty positive (for now) with JWP leaving. In all honesty he was part of the problem last season as much as the rest of the players, managers and owners. We’re getting a very good fee and clearing £5 million of the wage bill per year, which was probably part of the negotiation of the transfer. Have faith that Wilcox will have transfer targets ready?? We now have better spending g power and room on the wage bill.
Can we? There are still Leeds and Leicester. And they seem to be rivalling us for the likes of Piroe and Aarons. And have been linked with Hamer and Harwood-Bellis and we haven’t been linked with either. Even the latter despite the Wilcox links. We are linked with a loan for Holgate instead. A big difference there
The Total Saints Podcast people also seemed to think that he was the only one who didn’t take a wage cut with relegation. That could cover the wages for probably at least 3 more players
