    Match preview;

    There are a fair few things I don’t get, and still don’t get after Saturday. It felt like a new era going into the game, with Les Ferdinand having stepped down as Director of Football, Garett Ainsworth would surely be able to manage freely, and produce that free flowing football he’s been speaking about.

    Also, the club completed their first preseason in a shiny new training facility at Heston, a far cry from the Acton site we had in the 90’s, which was shared with my high school and had a building that looked like it was falling apart…but at least I could watch them training during science lessons, and once a player kicked their ball into my P.E lesson and I passed it back to them, hoping a scout would see and come over to chat, never happened…there was also the time I popped into the Tesco Express across the road after school and standing in line felt a large presence behind me in the queue…Danny ****tu really was a man mountain. Anyway, I digress. It felt like a new era.

    Then, less that a minute into the game, as Nick London was talking about the need for QPR to establish their authority in the midfield, Watford played three simple, quick, direct passes and carved us up, leaving Dele-Bashiru one on one with Begovic, to easily score the opener. To put this in perspective, just before the match started it was highlighted that Watford lost two of their main attacking players in the summer, Isaïla Sarr and João Pedro…but we made sure they weren’t missed as we allowed Watford to carve us open four times before half time. It was really grim, yet Ainsworth was able to see the positives, in some young players coming through…does it help the likes of Gubbins and Elijah-Dixon to lose 4-0 in their debut?

    As for our opposition this Saturday, Cardiff had a new manager come in over the summer, Errol Bulut, who joined having previously managed in Turkey. He bought in Aaron Ramsey, Josh Bowler, Dimitrios Goutas, Yakou Méïté, Karlan Grant, Iké Ugbo, all for free due to their transfer embargo, plus Eli King, Dillon Phillips, Ollie Denham returned from loans. They’ll be hoping to reverse their current trend, as since relegation from the top flight in 2019, they’ve finished 5th, then 8th, then 18th then 21st, not an encouraging trajectory.

    Enjoy if you are making the journey, and as always…

    …COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

    Until we get any more defenders back it’s more of the same unfortunately.

    Is Leon Jeanne still inside?

    5-0 Cardiff. I’m on Cardiff -3 at 25/1 so it’ll be 4-1.

    I was half thinking about going until I saw it’s £160 return from here or you can do it for about £100 if you’re willing to do 5 hours each way.

    The local supporters club have a secret pub doing a screening three minutes walk away.

    A sad story isn't it. Last reportedly broke his curfew and had a warrant issued for his arrest in September. Very sad waste of talent.

    I forget the opponent and I could only have been about 8 but there was a bleak night game where he absolutely tore it up. 12 appearances for us apparently. I’d have guessed fewer.

    I know you will consign me to cloud cuckoo land but I'm going for an ugly 1 all draw. I'm assuming the players have some pride and will want to put in a better shift.

    PS. Changed my mind from above post as sun is out!

    I'm hoping the Cardiff team have every conceivable non harmful non-life threatening medical aliment possible, that their bus breaks down, the coach has an almighty hangover, the managers' run off with the club owners' wife, an outbreak of the trots send the team to the sh1tters ................what else, oh, that our team can manage a 1-1 all draw.

    Cardiff 11/5 to win and keep a clean sheet.

    The 3-0 is 16/1 for whoever asked that earlier.
