Yes he would excite me more than Grimes. Depending on how much we want to spend we probably are going to need at least 2 CMs, possibly more. We will have lost a minimum of 3 (JWP, Lavia and Diallo) by the time the window shuts and it was one of our lighter positions anyway

Nearly 450 apps? I would consider him a club legend but in a bracket below the likes of Le Tiss and Benali who were one club men.
Was he? Maybe in the last 2/3 years but I'm pretty sure we'd have survived without him prior to that.
Need to do more than that in my eyes. Very good player for us but to leave when the going gets tough is a deal breaker. Like I said earlier, Mark Noble stayed with west ham and is rightly remembered as a legend. No ill will towards him at all but just shows he is no different than the likes of Mane.

He played most games under Poch and 58 times under Koeman. I would say he played regularly in our best sides?
Things are moving now. Club have held their ground but realisation is that we now need to think about our future and move on with getting our targets sorted before they go to other clubs etc. As I said before, if JWP is the only one we lose of the starting 11 from Friday, and we add 3 or 4 starters to the squad, we’re in a good place.
