Did he improve us tonight against a L2 side that played better than us, passed the ball forward, faster & pressed us into constant mistakes?

He don’t half talk some bollocks. It was unacceptable from the first minute but we started ok and scored the first goal?

    Ok mate.

Like the ranting about Norwich’s goal being offside, when he’s had 2 days to watch it back and see quite clearly it’s not offside by any interpretation of the rules and the scorer was about 4 yards onside.

He’s not very well media trained is he.

I'm not entirely sure what his mantra is at all but he looked a man under extreme pressure tonight.

I have some sympathy for him for the simple fact he's inherited some of this overpaid dead wood and 'if' the rumours starting to generate/bubble up are anywhere near the mark,it sounds as if they're a bunch of lazy twats who've come here for the inflated salaries...That's down to this evening's noticeably absent owner.

We've now had to row back in this season's recruitment due to the splash the cash flippancy on display when he went shopping in Turkey last season...

We did start OK and we did score first and look like scoring the second. Mistake from Traore and we did fold also.

Picking him up on his hyperbole is clutching at straws though isn't it?

It's not like it's not hard to find real stuff to fault after that now is it?

I would like us to go back to the standard 4-3-3.The idea in the 442 of having Delap or Oscar drop so deep for the ball is a bit weird, they aren't even in the right mould to do the job really, Delap makes a good go of it but realistically you want both of them players on the last line ready to score goals as often as possible.

The other thing that confuses me is we play it around at the back to create spaces and manufacture counter style attacks, yet when we win the ball in transition and the opposition is out of shape, the job is done for us in terms of pulling them out of position but rather than counter we pass it back and try to do it ourselves??

Pushing this on the players who improved us and kept us up and not some of the most clueless tactics ever seen on a football pitch is truly curious. A proper manager would have this team playing well.

Pushing it on one factor is naïve at best. There's plenty of reasons at play here. Yes the tactic aren't ideal I agree but I also find it hard to believe a manager would send out players to move around as much as Jon Parkin after a good offseason

At least he got the stands jumping.

With the shock waves every time he tried to sprint.

It’s interesting what @Steven Toast said about players feeling confused. Last season under Rosenior we played a 4-2-3-1 and the #10 behind the sole striker was given freedom to roam about a bit and receive the ball in different pockets of space. With the two holding players, Seri would drop deep to receive the ball and Slater would make forward runs or carry the ball forward. We’ve seen very little of this in pre-season, against Norwich or against Donny tonight. This 4-4-2 we’ve been playing recently feels very rigid. The two central midfielders are very static, the full-backs barely overlap, there’s no #10 and the two strikers look like their only job is to do a half-hearted press. What’s going on?

    That makes sense.

Either they're not playing for him on tonight's evidence, or the patterns in training are being over-prescribed.

But then who was doing the Seri thing tonight?

Traore did until his **** up but then there was no one coming deep from midfield to create the angles with the centre backs to be able to play out from Ingram after he made his mistake and no-one else did it either.

Ingram took one for the team tonight all those boos with the ball at his feet but what's he supposed to do if he has no options?

If you can't run around on a football pitch for 90 minutes none stop chasing the ball or player or running with it then you should have no right to be on the pitch at all or claim the wages you do.

None of the players or manager should get paid this week and it should be given to a local charity, bet they would up their game then wasters.
