He's cup tied now as well as just being utterly crap, so his value must be reduced to about 3 pot noodles and a double decker.. Not even Bombay Badboy flavour either, just bog standard chicken and mushroom ones.so even Palace might gamble that
Shame that it's Alan Nixon. Makes it very difficult to believe. Would be great if McCarthy does go though.
Is there any need for three senior keepers in the championship? I’m hoping McCarthy going has strong potential
My wish for the test of fhe window? Well based on tonight: If Bazunu gets injured, we're ****ed. If KWP gets sold, we're ****ed. If Bedders or Stephens get injured, we're ****ed. Etc etc. See where I'm going with this? Pay some of the backup options off if we have to. We need quality in depth, cos the current options aren't up to it.
Yes, yes and yes. I agree get them out of the club. If we can’t find replacements then play the kids: if nothing else it will help their development.
Agree at GK, hopefully we can ship off McCarthy and get in a new GK who can challenge Baz. Bree should be fine at RB in our actual team + we’d bring in a replacement should we sell KWP anyway. CB we’ll either have ABK or a new CB. Lyanco will be gone. The sooner we sell Lavia the better tbh as with not wanting to play JWP or Smallbone tonight that ****ed us with no Lavia available either. Assume with JWPs engine, the reason he didn’t play is because we didn’t want to cup tie him…but again, we sell Lavia and JWP we bring in a new CM or two. We need to shift Tall Paul too and then you’d assume we’ll bring in a new striker. We have decent options on the wing. Basically if the window shuts and we still have the same issues, we will be playing with fire and it will burn us. However it seems unlikely that that will be the case, so not panicking based on that **** show of a lineup and result tonight as it means little.
I think that's working to a massive assumption that SR will spend. I reckon its just as likely they're flogging off the silverware to recoup the money they spunked on rubbish the last 2 transfer windows. Tino, Lavia and JWP will cover the vast majority of that. We'll make a few loan signings at most.
That’s a far bigger assumption than what I’ve said. We already paid a big fee for the Championship on Charles this summer before selling anyone because otherwise we’d have lost out on him. The one thing you can’t moan at SR for is spending money. How they’ve spent it yes, but they very clearly with both actions (buying players) and words (saying we will continue to spend to get promoted as soon as possible) are trying to get us back in the PL. Nothing they’ve done or said suggests they just want to make back the money they’ve spent on players last season. They’re hamstrung by the amount of players we have (partly their fault) at the moment which will be why we haven’t made as many additions as I’m sure we’d have liked to. But sell Lavia, JWP, get rid of Lyanco, Tall Paul, whoever else and we will spend to bring in replacements where needed. I can understand being concerned about the quality of players we bring in given SRs track record so far, but them not wanting to spend money is a weird take tbh.
Be fair to them investment is the only thing they have done since they've been here. Spent it on crap, but they spent big!
They have and it didn't work. So what do we think is more likely A) They continue to pump money in to the squad. B) They try to recoup every last penny they wasted. We don't have a gazillionaire owner, he's got no connection to the club and doesn't really give a ****. He'll be looking for ££ back
The only way he protects his investment and increases its value is via promotion. There is no other way.
JWP was always going to leave this summer. Lavia and ABK to, possibly KWP, Sulemana and Adams? At least after that dross tonight the club will now be able to crack on with the signings they have lined up, and thankfully it was confirmed 3 weeks before the transfer window closes that we have many players just not good enough. Busy 3 weeks coming I think.
