Absolutely, don't disagree. He's certainly an influencer & this will become more & more important as he gains experience. Not a captain yet, but a promising apprentice.

Then again sometimes you have to wait until the timing is right with young players and that's not always just about their own ability. That said with the injury to Cooper it doesn't look like Farke will have much choice for the next league game.

All of which means sink or swim time for young Charlie.

    Final thought for today.

First goal we concede yesterday...what exactly is Meslier supposed to do with three or four of our own players in the 6 yard box standing directly in front of him ?

If they're not there then he could have come off his line to close down the goalscorer but he's completely stymied by our own players being on top of him.

Awful defending and also left the opponent on the edge of the box free for the pull back same as last season.

Yeh our defenders aren’t very good. People seem to be finally noticing. Only took 6 managers. :bandit:

on a serious note I saw some quote from Creswell that what he learnt most at millwall was to relax a bit more on the pitch. Given he was like a bull in a china shop on his previous first team appearances I was relieved to hear him say it. He’s obviously a lead from the front kind of guy which is great if channelled correctly. Hopefully with maturity he’ll get the balance right between being committed and reckless

My comment is that he does not communicate with his defenders. He can see the space on Aylings side and doesn’t yell at anyone to try to cover it. Doesn’t help that when Ayling finally does get back he decides to go to cover the post rather than close down the man.

On Cresswell you have to say that things settled down at the back when he came on because Struijk went back to his natural left side. Having 2 left side CBs didn’t work because Struijk wasn’t confident and looked out of place. My opinion only.

Don’t think the set pieces started working until Summerville took over. Think Archie was told to aim his corners low because we had no big lads except Cooper and Struijk to aim at and Cardiff had plenty?

Yep. I think Farke made a comment post match about how we couldn’t just hit the ball into the box because of a lack of height. Only Leeds could buy seven wingers and no forwards over 5’ 6”.

For the second goal, Struijk drifted to a LCB position as the attack started, almost shoulder to shoulder with Cooper, left a lot of space behind him, which they found with a lucky deflection.

Appreciate its tongue in cheek but we do have 2 tallish ‘strikers’… but paddy and Georgie are both crocked, which I think was farke’s point.

Don’t know about Georgie but Paddy isn’t exactly prolific with his heading. We really need a striker or hope one of our youngsters has a breakthrough season we weren’t expecting.

i wasn't commenting on capability bud, just height!

Agree we need someone who can do the target man/hold up role. You might not need it every game but you need it available.

As expected Chelsea look like having the go ahead for Tyler Adams and are now negotiating the deal. They would rather pay more than the £20m release clause which should be up front and get it spread over a period of time. So Leeds should make a profit at least………

Rich according to Ben Jacobs (CBS Sports) Chelasea have agreed terms but want to negotiate payment terms. Man Utd and Liverpool are now both wanting to action the release clause too and Adams likely to speak to them too. So if clubs prefer not to stump up the whole £20m up front they need to negotiate a higher price with Leeds :emoticon-0148-yes:

Well there must be more than one club interested in him. Not many leagues in Europe can afford the transfer fee. If any of those three can stump up the 20 million and he agrees terms then that is us fooked once again.

Would Leeds be better off taking the lump sum and buying some players.

That’s where the problem is as the £20m lump sum only gives us between £3m and £4m to play with, but if we get £25m we have around £9m to spend. The teams who can afford to stump up £20m up front also have FFFP to deal with so probably want to pay more and spread the payments over the term of the contract they give Adams

This £3m to £4m to play with sounds utter nonsense, where is this coming from mate (apart from Elland ;)) do you know?
