This is the key bit of the article: Although disappointed to lose Livramento, the club chose to accept Newcastle’s latest bid as it both represented fair value for a player of his ability while the fee will also support the wider rebuilding project within the squad this summer.
After Chelsea have taken their cuy it's essentially an injection of £25m-£30m to spend as we won't even need to replace him.
I had assumed that we would sell KWP and keep Tino because I didn't think anyone would pay the money we'd want for Tino given his injury. I had also assumed that KWP would have had plenty of interest which weirdly doesn't seem to have been the case. Plus, judging by his performances in the second half of last season and given his quality I assumed he wanted out. Now I get selling Tino given the price we've sold him for and given the question marks about his level post injury, but if we go on to sell KWP too then I'll be a bit annoyed. I imagine we will be trying to get him to sign a new contract should he stay otherwise next summer he'll be in his final year which does make things a little more complicated. But players seem to be retaining more of their value in the last years of their contract recently so hopefully won't have too much of an impact on our decision making.
I have it on very good authority KWP did try to get out last summer but Semmens and Crocker put their foot down and said no. KWP was quite openly discussing the move he wanted to make (which was to Everton... where his good pal Dele was also, of course).
Pretty clear where this is going. If it isn't done soon then Lavia will start throwing a strop and that's exactly what Liverpool are counting on.
All that did for van Dijk is delay his move which I’m sure Lavia doesn’t want. And unlike in that situation we have been public about the fee we want and we are prepared to sell for that price.
Some people on the other forum are saying we have accepted a Lavia bid - albeit with nothing sourced. And I can’t see anything on Twitter yet
