We have had that, Opposition wasting time from the kickoff, we lead 1-0 ref adds several minutes because of their time wasting and they equalise

Maybe if you get a late goal then then other team have to hurry up suddenly.

Probably has happened but maybe not last season as we weren’t ahead too often or had lost a lead by then !

Lionesses got out of jail this morning after a very entertaining 0-0 after extra time. In the end we were better a penalties than Nigeria although on balance I thought they were the better team today.

I bumped into some Yoevil Town fans on the train back to London after the game (the train itself was named after GT, appropriately). They had just been to see their team lose to Hemel Hempstead Town. I can't believe how far they've fallen, it wasn't long ago they were beating us at the Vic in the league!

Yes - Lauren James will be relieved.

Silly way to get sent off .

Quite - goodness knows how their fans feel!

Were once seen as a a beacon of a very small club punching above their weight.

Yeovil beat Brentford in a play off final .

What contrast for the teams since !

Yes - possibly the only team we have played and never beaten, and certainly the only one we have played and not scored a goal against.

Possibly not as that red card means the World Cup is over for her. Stupid thing to do...

That's what was said after the match ended this morning - an hour ago the media were reporting a three match ban.

I think he has a point about 'the calendar' being too crowded - but that's down to the authorities forever introducing new, unnecessary competitions.

But you're right - basically speaking, if they don't do the crime they won't do the time. They simply need to shut up and learn that - if only for the sake of fans who are fed up with their time-wasting tactics. I think I've said this before but authorities would do well to look at adopting & adapting a couple of basketball rules - 10 seconds to get the ball out of your own half, and 20 seconds to have a shot.

Oh what a mess. FC Sochaux- Montbéliard have been unable to put forward an acceptable budget for the coming season that starts on Friday. If they cannot come up with the money by Thursday noon, they will be relegated and likely to go out of business. The team that could benefit would be Annecy, who occupied the last relegation spot last season. Currently, the fixtures suggest we could have a season with only 17 teams, but no one knows at the moment. FC Sochaux- Montbéliard are owned by a Chinese outfit, who seem totally uninterested in what is going on. An ex-president of the club is trying to put together local investors that will keep the club afloat, but time is so short.

QPR's time wasting gave them an extra five minutes to try a grab an undeserved consolation goal

On the other hand had they been holding us to a draw or even worse it would have given us an extra five minutes to score

If you are winning extra time is a curse, if you are losing its a bonus

Yes agree there are almost too many games but don't feel sorry for the big boys.

They have deep squads and Man U won't be moaning if they play every game they can and win a few trophies!

Would they rather go out of Europe and the cups early?

I think refs probably haven't helped themselves in the past by not punishing time wasting so now told they must do it

Did hear the Barnsley keeper was booked for time wasting though at 6-0 up which seems crazy!

But maybe at some point they will cut down on the amount given later in the season.

The reason there are too many games is because the big boys demand group stages and expanded European competition. If they want the money, do the work. Back in the day, there were more two-legged League Cup ties, infinite FA Cup replays, and limited substitutions (and a larger Premier League originally). The only reason any players end up playing more minutes these days is because of those UEFA games (and FIFA world club cup stuff). If they want fewer games, they should just ask UEFA to go back to straight knock-out european cups...

And, dare I say it, those two-legged League Cup ties and infinite FA Cup replays held more interest for fans of smaller clubs than a lot of the UEFA/FIFA guff. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really interested in the majority of those competitions - which, for me, have caused a lot of the magic to go out of the FA Cup. Progress I suppose.

In 1981 I think, Arsenal, a first division side were drawn against third division Sheffield Wednesday. This was a third round game, so you can imagine the excitement of the Wednesday fans to be drawn against one of the most famous clubs in the land. Games and replays were on January 6, 9, 15, 17 and 22. This was the magic of the FA Cup. No problems with policing, so games could be played at short notice, and entrance fees were such that it enabled the fans to watch without seeking a bank loan. The FA Cup final was always the last game of the season, a final show-piece before you started the cricket season. I think we have lost a lot by this constant need to enrich the big clubs.

I think it would be equally fair to say that Arsenal were drawn against one of the most famous clubs in the land.
