This doesn’t make sense. Surely they either have the money or they don’t. I guess this is more of the media assuming that we have to sell and/or JWP will force a move by the end of the window if it hasn’t materialised Or maybe it is if West Ham fail with another target like McTominay
Maybe try arguing the points I've actually written rather than deciding they mean something completely different and arguing that point, before stating its the "thickest" thing you've read. Nowhere have I said he was faking it. I don't believe he was faking it, of course he wasn't. And too ****ing right that I'm whinging that our current club model has ripped all and any ambition out of being a successful football club.
Yes I saw that earlier. Not sure they are prepared to pay what Man United want as I expect they want closer to 40m for both. Would be good signing for them but their fans don’t think so. Entitlement I guess. But not sure where it comes from. Maybe just they don’t like the size of the fees but after the Rice fee they can’t really complain too much
Don't play innocent. It's pretty obvious what you are trying to imply when you write things like Tino doing "bugger all" for a season.
You're now deflecting, because you know I'm right. Anyway, let's end it, for the sake of everyone else.
The trouble we have as a club is in two fronts mainly; relegation has forced our hand and to be financially compliant we have to sell, this does mean that we have to lose players we’d rather keep, but also means that we haven’t got many/any players sitting around spreading the negativity or agents slagging the club and creating turbulence behind the scenes. Going back to a Nigel phrase, everyone’s got to be on the bus…. Etc. The other main problem is that as a club, something had to change. It’s literally the definition of stupidity to keep doing the same thing as we were (selling our best players and replacing with cheaper on the off chance they might come good) and expecting a different result. We didn’t change and the inevitable relegation came knocking. As a club, we either wither and die/get used to Championship obscurity or we do something different. The model of trying to attract young exciting players from across Europe/the World and having them grace our stadium for a period of time is not how we’ve done things before, and it’s what our current owners want to do, so let’s go with it. It’s right to sceptical, god knows as Saints fans and how close we came to the brink before Markus, we should be overly curious as to what’s going on behind the scenes. However, until we get an owner that is out and out filthy rich and we can afford anyone we wish-we have to try a different approach. (Even then we’d still have to be financially compliant) You say that it’s not the way to go currently; I’d be genuinely interested in how you’d do things over the next 12 months differently to SR,
I’m sure this is the third time he’s tweeted this info. Maybe it was three separate journalists. Groundhog week.
Could do with a new rumour or two. Or how about the new one from earlier? Where would McAtee fit into our current system? Whose spot? Kind of seems like a replacement for a player that I am not allowed to even suggest be sold unless he is for one of the forward three positions. Which I don’t think he is Wonder if he is like Delap and City don’t want him loaned to the premier league yet where he will struggle for time and space in a struggling side. Otherwise surely he does a second loan to Sheffield United unless there is another city player they want on loan even more Could just be a lazy rehash of old rumours I guess. We have been linked with him before
If I thought he was faking it, or taking the piss, I would openly say that. I'm not exactly known for my subtlety. But fair enough, we'll call it a day there
But that's exactly what we're still doing! Selling our best players and replacing them with cheaper, the notable difference this time is that we're just doing it with really young players, hoping they become good. The second a player looks like a match winner they're off.
So how do we prevent them from leaving without having a very p*ssed off young squad…? Surely with the takeover, that was a line in the sand as to how things were before-sure, it’s similar, but we’ve only really got the option of judging SR since they arrived. They ballsed up the first season and have admitted they have and seem to be trying to do something about it. Whether it works or will work is very hard to predict.
There is a clear line. We now sign them and say they can leave… for a massive fee. It isn’t just a profit. I also think all these players would have done 2-3 years more had we not been relegated. You could definitely claim our model didn’t help keep us up and lessons do need to be learned.
I'm not going to lose my **** over anyone leaving this year. We are a Championship club now, and every player wants to play in the Prem. Our better players will want to as well as our not so good. The only thing we can do is get a fair price and not get rinsed. IMO we are trying this. Next year, when we are back, we will do the same. Only sell for the right price and recruit for the future. The difference is that Tino for example wouldn't have to go as we would be a premier league club. Newcastle to be fair are in the Champions League and we are in the Championship. I know where I would go if I was 19.
