So what does everyone think about the new rules?

Players and managers signalling for an opposition player to be booked should get a yellow card. It’s horrible to see so 100% behind this one.

I’m also all for adding the time on but as Mowbray said it appears that teams will just time waste in the added minutes but it doesn’t get taken into consideration. Certainly not in our game yesterday.

Some players are now speaking out against the additional time (below)…how about they don’t try to cheat by feigning injury or wasting time in the first place? Then there wouldn’t be 10+ minutes added, it’s easy to fix. Players really are thick as mince.

Poor bairns that they give us the paying fans a proper return for our tickets. Funnily enough not one of the women from the world cup have complained

Generally it is a good thing.

I wonder though as they do in Rugby Union, the ref tells them to stop the clock.

Quite often although Rugby games were only 40 mins each half, the games would last longer than football games.

I watched all four televised matches from the Championship at the weekend and thought apart from ours the players tried to engage with the new rules pretty well and the Refs were very good.
Our game however was littered with either the players knew little of the new rules or the changes in what constitutes a foul challenge as the game was broken up far more than the other 3 and our Ref was the poorest of the lot by a street.
This added time is a double edged sword as if the winning team are running down the clock taking every throw in and goal kick to the limit the extra time means little although Leeds did manage to find a point during added time.
It’s early days still but our players need to learn and quickly how infringing will bring yellow cards as Hume found out.

same as i feel about VAR and that is it has to be used to also stop the cheating, if anyone watched the lasses playing nigeria earlier, there was one 'tackle' where one of the england lasses got an elbow to her face (caused a canny scream) and she went dow,, the nigerian lass grabbed her head and went down also...now the replay showed there was no contact with the nigerian lass' head/face at all.

now i fully agree with james red card for violent/unsporting behaviour and i honestly do not think the 'elbow' incident was anything more than two players coming together but she pretended to be hurt, because of the scream i reckon, surely that is still unsporting behaviour?...if crackdowns are going to be ongoing then they have to crackdown on everything, get rid of cheating whatever form it takes and it will help the game flow, will help the officials and see more football time in general.

I think it will be for the ultimate good of the game personally. I assume Hume got his second yellow for kicking the ball away? and I hope he learns fast and Mowbray is hammering home how bloody stupid it is to kick the ball away.

New rules wouldn't be needed if there wasn't as much time wasting and dissent.

They did it to themselves. Tough ****.

Exactly, and the likes of Pep Guardiola and Raphael Varane know this fine well despite their complaining. It's one less way that teams can bend the rules of the game and I'm all for that.

It will be interesting to see what happens when 5 or 6 players surround the ref when they don't agree with a decision, thats definitely needed looking at for a long time.

It’s ****ing great for goals coupons.

Bookies software hasn’t caught up yet so get to 90 mins and you seeing 8/1 or so on a goal, then they at 7-11 mins and those odds drop to 5-6/1

Thus, it offers you a cash out profit.

This new rule of a verbal announcement by the ref in the women's World cup when VAR gets involved is a complete waste of time.

Telling fans verbally that they are overturning a yellow for red is pointless unless we hear the conversations between on field ref and VAR.

Should penalise the managers if their team is continually time wasting/cheating.
How, I'm not sure, maybe a hefty fine or banned from ground in future matches

Managers are ultimately culpable for behaviour of players.

13 mins added time on Sunday really pissed me off

    Just watching women's world cup
    Awful game Jamaica v Columbia
In the first half there were numerous players going down injured, happened a lot
Should have clearly been a lot of stoppage time, but the officials chickened out and only allowed 4 minutes, there should have been an awful lot more than that
    Why?
I suspect as the match is a terrible example for the women's game, Jamaica are really dirty, loads of fouls, it is obviously their tactic to win the match at all costs
The ref is struggling to keep on top of the game,so the officials do not wish to prolong the half

Been saying it for years - reduce the length of each half to 30 mins and stop the clock every time the ball goes out of play.
    Time-wasting is eradicated over night

Why not keep the 45 mins and stop the clock as that is what the fans have paid for

Referees should be able to make it very clear before games as well. Right lads, we can be out here for 90 minutes or 110 minutes, it's up to you.

Keepers wasting time needs addressing after 5 minutes not 85 minutes, get them booked straight away and that'll put a cork in that. Players piss farting about pretending to be injured will be self policed on the pitch, probably by the captain where by the captain has word of "stop f**King about. Players taking thrown ins when winning that all of a sudden become very clumsy and drop the ball about 3 times will stop. One thing that shouldn't be forgotten is the players 9 times out of 10 are coached and instructed to do all of the above. What I've always found ridiculous is a keeper taking 5 minutes for a goal kick, place the ball down nicely, take a few strides back, perhaps piss fart about with a glove, maybe kick some mud out of their boots on the post all the time thinking they're taking a well thought out goal kick, the lump it up field into a crowd of 15 blokes, and are then pissed off with the goal kick.

It's a good job this rule never came in when Drogba was playing, every match would've been 3 hours long.

They are just pampered poodles, especially at the likes of Abhu City, where De Bruyne has already complained about it.

If they and the other clubs who run the game don't like it, it will stop anyway, as it did at the world cup.
