bit surprised you lot are not sighing with relief that Sarah's agent is saying he is committed to the club and Saudi can faff off.
Way I saw it. We wouldn't let him go, unless it was for silly money, in which case, I'd be Ok with it given the age. I never saw it as a credible threat he would leave for the £60mill I saw in a news article.
If the Saudis really wanted Salah, they’d offer 120m transfer and 60m per season for 2 years. Still comes up to the £240m quoted and Salah triples his wages
We really don't want to be losing any more players at this late hour. We need stability and focus coming into the season. I didn't know it was the Charity Shield last weekend and even if I did, I have no interest in it unless we are involved but seeing it had already happened, I was reminded how we started last season positively on the back of winning it. We all know what followed. So the reverse could certainly be true if some are worried about lack of signings. The other aspect is that preseason results and performances have never been an indication of how we will go into the season.
tbh you could see a mile off the level in last preseason. in this one it's very very light and our cards are sort of close to the chest. not much about the bayern game gave me any confidence as we saw little discipline and were under serious press there. I'll be honest and say I think we are really going to have to depend on not having injuries to those key forwards and 2 new cms to be within a mile of 4th
Good. I've been thinking for a long time he needs to branch out and try to be more defensive instead of scoring goals.
Early in the pre-season before the mass migration those would have been my thoughts too. In general, more in favour of gradual positive change. I think no matter what we do now, stability is messed up... So might as well rock the boat and get everything needed done now rather than face disruption again in the next transfer window. Not that I'm advocating Salah going to Arabia, just saying, I think disruption is here already.
Just read that we’ve had a third bid rejected by Southampton. Are we increasing by 50p per bid? Could be 2 years before we get there at this rate
I've a radical thought. ask Southampton what's thier price, then kick the tyres a bit and walk away. if there has been bidding at all (who knows) then it's clear Southampton feel they will get their 50. if we can't or won't pay it then walk away saying there rust under the sills loudly and go buy some other crock
Just read this: Anything under £50m to a relegated club for an inexperienced 19yo is "on the cheap" now - apparently.
