Maybe, and I’m not fussed either way, I always thought that’s what happened - shows I don’t pay as much attention as I should.

We need a Saints xxx thread soon though. I’m getting bored with always winning…

Agree. He’s had 2 seasons here and done nothing. £8m would be a good return.

Would potentially mean no accounting loss either. Or a limited one

    Unlike :emoticon-0181-fubar

    Loved Shaney :emoticon-0152-heart

EDIT: Reasons to love Shaney …
    Could outjump Tall Paul
Goal v Villa when Sadio got his hat-trick
    Broken ribs? Still played
Looking knackered? Still outran players who had only just come on
Diverting defences attention while Judas Ings scored goals

    … There may be more

Can we have a saints transfer roumers thread only? Personally I don't care one jot what other teams are planning.

I hope we make him captain against Gillingham.

It seems like they are just trying to find a way of buying him whilst being able to have the media report the fee to be below 50m. Not least because they don’t want it to be shown that they weren’t able to force us to decrease in valuation. I’ve said before that I fully expect the eventual deal will be one that will see us receive 50m but that pro-Liverpool media can report as being below so they can crow about the mighty pulling power of Klopp and Liverpool but also bang on about how much of a bargain it would be assuming he reaches the potential we assume he has

This might be a mad suggestion, but Chelsea desperately need some experience in midfield. What chance they get a bit edgy in the next couple of weeks and go for JWP? I mean, Poch knows him too…

He’s too old for him to be able to give a really long contract to. He will only make exceptions to this for established champions league players

The Armstrong rumour has got me thinking about our squad. We know it is too big and we need to reduce it. But also that we want some replacements / upgrades

So I assume there are some players that we would be happy to just let go and not bring a replacement in (Group A) whereas others I expect we will want to replace as we wouldn’t want to play the players from Group A instead - in an ideal world. (Group B)

So with strikers for example, I expect we would be happy to just move on Tall Paul. But if we sell Adams we will want a new striker to come in. I expect the same is true for Armstrong. Making Paul Group A and the others Group B

I’d have said Lyanco was from Group A but has become B due to the departure of two central defenders. We would now need a replacement if he goes. So it isn’t foolproof

Which others potentially fill this “Group A” - players we need to move on to reduce the squad numbers but not replace. I’d say Bree and Aribo maybe? Probably Perraud now we have Manning. But Bree might switch groups if KWP also leaves as we’d be down to just him and Tino’s replacement as right back.

And do both JWP and Lavia have replacements signed or does just one come in due to the return of Smallbone and signing of Charles (this thought comes from the tweet suggesting Grimes was a Lavia replacement rather than one who will come if two midfielders leave)

What about if both Tino and KWP leave? Do we bring in one player or two? This might well depend on the thoughts on Bree and Larios (fitness of the latter as well)

Actually - writing out these meandering thoughts make it easy to see why our transfer plans and strategy are so difficult
