I agree. There's a lot of crap coming out of the club in recent months, saying one thing and doing the other. This constant talk from the owners and management about top 6 when we're just not equipped to push for promotion. I've got no problem saying we want top 6, then bringing in a manager and players who can achieve that. But really there's nothing to suggest that Rosenior can be the manager to do what Acun wants. Attractive football being another one. Then there's the transfer window... we've done the complete opposite of what they said they would do.. wide players, robust players and fit players... its laughable.
Its much more than the window WS and `I think Hullborn echoes the thoughts of many, even with those of differing views of where we are and where we might end up.
We lost the game in midfield; we were anonymous, barely winning any 50 / 50 balls and getting turned over time after time. Vaughan was a couple of seconds behind everything which is where he was at the end of last season. He needs to spend the next 20 games coming on late in the game, certainly not starting. Traoré is ineffective on the wing, needs to be more central. The game passed Slater by. Tufan barely saw the ball. Seri's passing was off. They'd all looked ok against Nantes but then Nantes sat off and allowed us to build. They played it as a training game and that lulled us into a false sense of security that we were ready. Norwich were full on and caught us cold. Defensively we were ok. Not brilliant but solid enough. Upfront Delap looked a different class. Subs made no difference and Connolly?... Shouldn't have been on the bench. It's insulting to all the U21s who could have taken that place, not to speak of our fans who spent time and money to trek down to the back of beyond on a wet autumnal afternoon.
Just as a side note... watching Leicester v Coventry, the referee added 9 minutes and played 9 minutes 55 without any particular stoppages.
Around 15 points needed from the first 10 games to be on target for a top 6 spot unless you can do what Coventry did last season. This team as it stands isn't capable of playing catch up.
I was listening to commentary on Radio Norfolk, for my sins. Every time we had it in midfield, we immediately lost it due to poor/mistimed passes. It appeared that they had more than players than us in the middle. I heard Tufan's name mentioned loads of times......"Tufan for Hull. He's lost it, Norwich get the ball back, again." Seri never got a shout out, other than to get booked. Slater right off it...Said it before the season began we need a quarter back type and someone with IQ. Cairney won't get a lot of play time at Fulham, but would he come back here? I doubt it somehow.
This ^^^^ My twopenneth, felt gutted after defending well, a long afternoon, not playing well, to not come away with a point. Was hoping for a draw, heart more than head! Was always going to be an acid test, away at Norwich. But, there is a lesson to be learned here; two goals conceded both in extra time of each half. Need to play & concentrate to the whistle. Positives; Delap, exciting to watch in his first game for us, surely will only get better, looking forward to seeing more from him. Put some of ours to shame. Bullet dodged - Sonny Bradley at fault for Derby’s first goal conceded, stupid back pass from almost the half way line for Wigan to pounce on! Onwards & upwards hopefully. Lessons to be learned by Liam also, need to put a sock in it, stop waxing lyrical or he could start looking silly quickly.
I think your last paragraph is spot on in a way it was easy coming in November and tightening up a team Lot easier to go defensive and scrap for points Start of a season and he and us wanted to be expansive and play but it was sadly lacking and the pressure showed on him He’s going to get a good fine for telling the ref to **** off Let himself down there
Do any other managers / owners say much different? Genuine question as I barely pay attention to what ours say (perhaps that’s why I’m not wound up?) and definitely never listen to any others. I’d have thought most middle table type team’s managers say they want to push for the top 6 don’t they?
No When I started supporting City the south stand was called Bunkers because it was so high all of it was twice as high as the South Stand terrace when the seats were put on top the south east corner was even higher if you stood at the top corner the players were like tiny ants it took ages to walk from the top to bottom
Ah okay, jus read up and the original south stand called bunkers hill was replaced in 1965 with the eventual south stand. Was a bit young for that and also the supermarket being built I can just about remember. Seeing it on calendar or whatever.
when you would have been even younger https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bunker_Hill#:~:text=The Americans repulsed two British,in control of the Peninsula. a lot of high football terraces got their name from this battle
Poor old Coventry thier seasons over. Lost the first game away after going one up. Disgrace, sack everyone and burn down the stadium.
