Don’t know to be honest, I had it in my head that they do, but I hardly watch any football that isn’t Hull City or England, so haven’t seen much of VAR.
Just watched the game after missing it yesterday... How could we have that many looking so rusty and of the pace when Liam has been saying over and over how tough the pre season has been and how they'll be ready etc. Delap looked very bright, very strong and should have had a couple bar a fantastic save. Also a great save or 2 from Ingram. Connolly..... What a ****ing embarrassment, the fact Liam named him in the bench and brought him on in that state is embarrassing as well and to me shows Liam knows he has **** all else up there. Vaughan isn't a week in week out champ player and I stick by what I said when he broke into the team last season.... he'd gain more going on loan I think overall we are ATM nowhere near. The transfer business so far bar delap is poor at best. We need some big signings before the window closes and if Liam is honestly happy with what he has in the building so far then I worry about his judgement. It's game 1 so time to change things and improve, but i go back to my first point, I'm shocked at how unprepared we looked after having it said to us time after time how difficult this pre season has been for everyone etc
You’ve gotta be bang at it from the off in this league.. This. ^^^^ We’re all over the place and Rossy will be gone by Crimbo apparently.. Sigh…. Allam’s GONE.
I'm not sure we would have got back level but what is frustrating is that we would have opened up a bit and played with more intent and possibly more freedom. That's what missing. We might have equalised or conceded again but hey ho. At present I don't see enough intent from kick off. Norwich have one of the better squads in the league and I fully expect them to be there or thereabouts at the end. They should be as they still have parachute money. I'm realistic not optimistic.
Tufan and Seri were disappointing with their passing. The rest were about average for me. Too many players static waiting to receive a ball rather than being on the move. If he insists on this playing out from the back lark then we need all midfield players to become more mobile and offer an option
I’d honestly rather there be mistakes than have VAR. it’s reduced football to clinical line drawing and there’s still debates about whether they’ve got it right.
Bed-wetter!!! No, but seriously, you’re spot on. So many looked way off it. Rosenior’s signings bar Delap have been poor. Vinagre looked ****ed by 30 minutes. Well, he played 4 games last season. I’ve seen Sunday league players in better physical shape than Connolly is right now. Appalling.
They used VAR in the World Cup last year for that Japan goal that was allowed, when it looked like it had crossed the byline.
VAR wouldn't have weighed in as the ball being behind before a corner being awarded wasn't a direct phase of play leading to a goal.
Potentially would gave picked up the push on Mcloughlin, although I'm not sure if it was soft or not, hard to tell from the highlights.
Your starter for 10. Referring to referees, which EFL manager said ' I promise I'm going to try and be the best behaved I've ever been before because I know it's a difficult job.' There's too much talk at this club and not enough action. Several new players are needed in the next few weeks to have any chance of pushing for a top 6 spot. I agree in not paying over the odds for players but surely they could have done better than this.
He didn't do anything any other manager wouldn't have done in the same circumstances. They are clearly attempting to change some of the culture surrounding attitudes towards officials and Liam was unlucky to be first in the firing line.
Isn’t it funny how Rosenior says Sinik is nowhere near fit enough to be in contention yet but Connolly doing his best Jon Parkin impression is fit enough to make the bench and come on for 20 minutes? I think he’s just full of ****. Nice guy and great player for us but I’m just not at all convinced he’s got what it takes to be a head coach at this level, certainly not right now. He’s talks a good game but he’s naive, loses his rag in the first game of the season, seems oblivious to the fact we need physicality in midfield and his signings have been poor. He seems more concerned about being a mentor to young, wayward players than improving us which is why I think he currently makes a better assistant than head coach. I’ll ask this because I think it needs asking: would people have been happy with the appointment of Derby’s former interim head coach last November if he had no connection with City at all? Acun has been great in rebuilding the trust between the club and fans that was lost under the Allams and has done great work off the field but his involvement in the transfer market and both his managerial appointments leave a lot to be desired. The appointment of Rosenior reeks of Solskjær at Man Utd and Lampard at Chelsea I can see it turning out the same way, unfortunately.
Good post HT2.... I'm worried about LR judgment period... I think Acun accepted that last season they had been too gung-ho, aiming in the very best way to please and decided to let LR make the choices... As it is, the only blob (as the finances would see to indicate) he made was Sinik and that probably to please someone else. Repeating myself for the umpteenth time, I think he has until game 10/12 and the fixture list doesnt look that helpful.
Looking at September fixtures we need to win the two home games this month if not we could easily be looking for a new manager in October. LR gets my backing for now as the mess made last summer with recruitment and that clown Shota’s shambolic coaching was not his doing but still not sure why he got the gig at City to be honest Come the end of September and if we are on the bottom 3 I can see Acun making the chop.
Tufan brings so much imbalance to the side. I mean you look at some players in sides on similar wages and transfer fees and he brings nothing. Look at Sara, Hamer and Louza to name 3X far superior players on the ball. You can’t stick Adama on the wing he’s a number 10. But once again poor recruitment means we don’t have a winger at the club worth their salt.
The Connolly signing was always odd, as about 10 days earlier Rosenior had said he wan't interested in signing him. Then Tetteh heads off and we rush to get Connolly into the building. Surely LR would have been aware that Connolly hadn't been doing a lot for pre-season apart from sampling Brighton's cuisine. Sadly the Kappa 'Pro-Kombat' shirt didn't do him any favours when he came off the bench.
