Although it would cost at least that much to replace him that seems like an offer we would have to accept given his contract situation

Just catching up. Anyone feel that Max Aarons is an adequate replacement for either Tino or KWP? Seems like we are banking on his potential as a 19/20 year old still being there. Something went awry with him in the last couple of years because he was off to every club in the top 6 for a while and mooted as one of the best players in the league. Seeing KWP playing yesterday, if he leaves we are going to need a top quality replacement, he was excellent as always and looked happy and well up to what the manager wants.

Palace have some excellent support players for a striker but we didn't struggle to create chances early in the season, he just fluffed them time after time. Part of me thought he might be happy to take a season in the championship and get his goals and confidence flowing again. 15m for him with his recent record and contract situation seems like a good deal but he will be hard to replace as he is excellent as a support striker next to a good finisher.

I’ve read a few people saying Aarons hasn’t progressed much and lived up to his potential, but sometimes players just work at a club, so hopefully that’s the case here. It was a bit like that when we signed KWP. Not the most exciting of signings, but turned out to be a very good one and he became a key player.

Aarons was linked to Bayern one summer. Hopefully he’ll push on in a new environment.

Talking of KWP, I assume he’ll be off too, because we don’t need him, Aarons and Bree, and I can’t imagine we can afford (wages wise) KWP and Aarons as our two RBs.

yeah I hope so but I would have expected him to move on from Norwich a long time ago. It makes me think that it’s not club issue but a player issue. Unrealised potential is almost always the player over the club I think. That’s why nobody has rushed to move him on.

I’m really not happy to lose both Tino and KWP. Concerned that recruitment will be more of what we got in January.

Aarons can play at LB. Did so thrice for England u21s during the recent Euros, including the final.

Has played RM and even LM for Norwich.

Don’t get why people are posting non-Saints related stuff on here. It’s already long enough as it is without stuff I’m not really interested with.

Fair point. Apologies, but it's such a 'wow' transfer, thought it was worth mentioning. Will put on the PL thread if any more occur!

It's a transfer rumour thread not just a Saints transfer rumour thread. This thread is for all transfer related stuff.

No need to apologise. People can simply ignore the posts they're not interested in.

Does it have to be football transfers? Or even sports transfers? I like the idea of a general change in employment circumstances thread.

I seem to recall we did have separate Freds some years back, a Saints one and an 'other clubs' one.

The way the full backs played Friday night was kind of inverted and it left the wingers to provide the width.
If the full backs are expected to come inside a lot then it makes sense to have someone who is at least comfortable either side like KWP.
