Longman, Bernard, Baxter all contributed a lot that season. Our best players last season were all here before Acun
We missed out on a few transfers which I thought we'd get (they'd come in alongside the ones we have). Wright being one of them.
Exactly everyone knows we need wingers and we’ve started the season with one on the bench and no way he was first choice. LR wanted his business done early, we kicked off today still needing players, I understand things don’t always go to plan but surley the plan has to be get what we need early and done. If they can’t be done early or not at all then they can’t be considered first choice. “When” has to be a factor of first choice
We tried to get it done early and had it gone through, we wouldn't have paid anything like that. Some other clubs got involved and it went from there. Had we signed him last season, well, you know.
He hadn't gone for that fee when we targeted him. Same with Darlow. Prices rise when other clubs get involved. Not only that, if someone had met Oscar or Greaves valuation before now then Wright may well have been do-able for us. I still expect we'll bring another striker in but we will have targets for LB, CH and CF based on valuations for Oscar and Greaves I reckon. If they go then someone like Wright would be a genuine possibility. But we'll have other targets. So wait and see what transpires. More transfers will happen in the next 4 weeks than have already accross all divisions. Just hold yer beans.
So 8 goal Tufan and the glimpses we've seen of a fit Traore and young Harry were not more exciting than Longman, cannon, Williams et al?
Alan Nixon reporting Man United are now prepared to let Matej Kovar go. City and Red Star Belgrade are interested
He would be fun. Raw but talented as **** from what I've seen. Think Baxter on steroids with a slightly deranged look in his eye.
Yes but that's gone already, assuming that they received it all in one go, which isn't very likely. The transfer fees they've paid wipe out the Gyokeres money straight away, so I'm not sure where the money for their wages is going to come from. I know the owner has a bit of cash, but given the recent history, it's not likely they would want to risk financial problems again.
Let’s chill on Vaughan abit. The only thing that has been impressive about him at championship level is that he doesn’t look out of place (albeit he did today against a fully fit side playing for something)
He's also 6 ft 5. He had a good game against us for Swindon in League One (when KLP scored that nice goal where he took it from his own half, through their team and scored).
It's just reality though isn't it. Same thing happens every year. Half your signings are done after the season starts and half of them need weeks to get fit. It's annoying but it's the reality for everyone but the top few PL clubs.
