Got a feeling a deal for KWP with a team like Fulham is already lined up and ready to go as soon as we sign Aarons.
Interesting as I kind of assumed that Charles was his replacement. I wonder if this means that we get him whether JWP stays or not and if JWP goes we get someone else in as well. Perhaps Charles was just because we were already short in the defensive midfield position (as Lavia’s injury last season showed) and can apparently cover other positions
As much as i'd love Grimes to come here, I think that Piroe could honestly be a gamechanger for us. If JWP stays then it we will be ok for CM options but Piroe's goals could be crucial.
Presume Charles is a Diallo replacement, meaning Lavia and JWP will both need replacing if they leave. Suppose Smallbone coming back is an extra we didn’t have from last year, but then you could class AMN as another CM who’s left.
Also appears likely that we'll utilize a three-CM setup most of the time, whereas last year it was (mainly) just two, so that places greater stress on our depth as well. Definitely need another CM when at least one of Lavia/JWP leaves.
I guess part of it depends on what position we consider Armstrong and Aribo to be in this system. Armstrong was brought on as one of the free. Meaning: Charles Alcaraz Smallbone Armstrong I’d suggest we would need at least one more if both go. Not sure if the championship wage budget stretches to two first team level people per positions. Perhaps 5 and then supported by youth
Was at the Norwich game today (being local and all) and I have to say Aarons replacement, Stacey, was excellent. Offered a lot more going forward than the games I saw Aarons play last season. Could just be that he was dropped... Though I doubt it.
